Is Mormonism And Science Compatible? Attn Bcspace

Entropy is simply that in any closed system randomness increases with time. We haven't yet found anywhere where that is not true.

I agree, and for the life of me I cannot understand why people who believe in darwinian evolution call it the " Ascent" of man surely matter left without outside help would degrade not improve!!!! Jeff

No physicist has ever found an exception to the First Law of Thermodynamcs, anywhere. If you know of one, I'd love to hear about it.

But to be fair, you really should split the Nobel Prize money with changed.

Jeff Walsh:

Evolution works because this earth isn't in a closed system. We are constantly receiving energy for our sun.

The problem is that we know of no way in which archebiosis (spontaneous generation of life) occurs via an energy input from Sol. And this is true even when we consider interaction of that energy with already extant organic chemicals (ubiquitous throughout the universe) in some sort of "primordial soup." Creating life by such means has been tried for over half-a-century without success. It appears that the engineering of life requires sentient activity, just as it does in the intelligent design of a watch. Evolution requires at the very least a built-in design.

It may well be that humans will be able to design and create life at some point in our future technological development. However, that would only demonstrate the requirement of sentience, and a "god" would truly be required to design an entire solar system with a "Goldilocks"planet and the fine-tuning necessary to make it all work. Otherwise, entropy is king.

BCSpace has claimed Mormonism and science are completely compatible. I sincerely disagree and BCSpace has agreed to debate the evidence for and against said proposition. Here is my first, and by no means not the only, evidence against compatibility.

Evolution for starters is not about design or purpose. There is no direction, no intent, and no reason, it just happens. There is absolutely no god or gods directiing their creation via the means of evolution either. There is your first incompatibility with religion. Remember, Mormonism as the "only true religion" has taken a NEUTRAL stance on this issue. Haven't you ever wondered at such a weird take? Here God Almighty himself, the source and fountain and cause of eternal truth, of verifiable truth hasn't given the truth on this most important subject? And all the while evolution continues to show itself WITH EVIDENCE as completely certifiable, while creation has now been completely explained as natural occurrences with no supernatural add on hypothesis even needed? Remember you said Mormonism and science are compatible, but Mormonisms' stance on evolution is a cop out. Neutrality is NOT compatible with the evidence and proofs of evolution, it is a cop out.

Athiests are selfish people who couldn't care less about this country, our founding fathers, Jesus Christ's teachings as the cornerstone of our foundation. It's all about what's in it for them. They are the carbetbaggers that divide and destroy then haggle over who gets the bigger portion of the spoils of the pie.

Boo, boo, boo.

What's not to boo about such a ridiculous, uncharitable and inflammatory remark?

"The frustrating this is that those who are attacking religion claim they are doing it in the name of tolerance, freedom and open mindedness.

Question: Isn't the real truth that they are intolerant of religion? They refuse to tolerate its importance in our lives." Ronald Reagan

Be careful saying things like that. My best friend is an atheist.

There is no need to be coy about your opinions.

So is mine. Thats how I know...

Our family became aquainted with a Missionary fron Brisbane Australia. He recently contacted us regarding a trip

to the U.S., and reconnecting with us.

He no longer believes in God. His whole countenance has changed. He was so very rude. He told us Believing in God is

similar to believing in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. He seemed to push his agenda constantly. Needless to say, it was

not a "Joyful" reunion! ( no pun intended) :)

Sorry, I thought it was to the point! :)

You will get a pass this time but global denunciations of Christians, Muslims, atheists, political groups etc. will result in thread or board banning. Everyone get back on topic please.

Your experience with atheists should not be used to describe atheists in general.

First guy I ever went on a date with was atheist, sweet young man who most definitely cared about the country, its history, etc. Sacrificed for others, helped others with their projects at school. I haven't known a serious atheist who wasn't the same way. The idea that this was all there is motivated them to be part of making the world a better place, not only for themselves, but for others and especially those that would follow.

Known a few who parrot the theme without real knowledge that meet your criteria...they use atheism more of an excuse not to get involved, to justify their selfishness, but the real thing...nope, don't see it.

Thank-you for the kind remarks. It is wrong, I suppose, to categorize all of them as being the same.

" If you believe there is no God, you better hope you are right"!

I would have had no problems with your remark had you said some atheists.
