I have felt God's presence in nature, particularly by the ocean or mountains.

Many in places sacred to many traditions and while discussing many traditions. My first spiritual experience that was significant enough for me to remember came while I was visiting a Blackfeet sacred site as a small child. I grew up near Writing-on-Stone park and within sight of the Sweetgrass hills. In the park is a shallow cave and in the back of it is a painting of the Thunderbird. It's been there for a long long time, somewhat exposed to the elements, but the colors are still incredibly bright. The elements actively seem to prevent copying of the painting by photograph, drawing or any other means.

I know what you mean... living here at the beach I sometimes take it for granted... but when I take the time to walk on the beach, I cannot do so without praying... the pounding waves, the vastness of the skies... the beauty of the soaring gulls... I simply must pray in gratitude.

Some time ago a friend invited me to her Anglican church service. At the end of the service there was a prayer meeting on behalf of a parishioner who was ill and scheduled for surgery. The majority of elderly people (men and women) in the church all stood up and formed a circle around the sick woman, placed one hand on her head or shoulders with the other hand on the shoulder of the person next to them. Then one person offered a prayer of healing and comfort on the sick woman's behalf as the rest of the circle blessed her with their hands. It was truly beautiful and moved me to tears.

Great story...sounds familiar.

This is a lovely thread, and very charitable towards those of different perspectives. It was being in a Catholic church that convinced me that there was my spiritual home, and I have grown in faith and the love of God since. But if ever any of you visit the UK please visit Walsingham, Englands Nazareth. There are 2 shrines there dedicated to Our Lady of Walsingham, I believe a truly holy place. Also Westminster Cathedral, breathtakingly beautiful and full of worship, God truly embraces those who visit him there, my sister says he is in the stones, I believe her

Went to Rome in May, and visited St Peter's, didn't strike me as anything but a colossal monument, beautiful yes, but then I saw St Peter's tomb which gave the whole place meaning. But for me it was still too touristy, but to be expected I suppose. Also visited the Treasury there where a lot of the jewelled vestements and other stuff of Popes, there was one ring in a case that you could get a good workout if you wore it, if you could lift your hand of course, and I thought what has all this to do with our Lord Jesus Christ?

To echo what some of you have said, i felt a beautiful spirit at a Greek Orthodox church in Boise. In fact, because it was scheduled the way it was, I announced to my wife that I was going to go to that church then to the LDS church because I wouldn't miss either. My wife didn't like that at all so i was unable to do that :sorry:. In regards to nature, I also have felt drawn to it, especially the various canyons here in Utah. namely Big Cottonwood Canyon and Logan Canyon. I am an avid fly fisherman, and when I was struggling I would fish these canyons, while listening to Debussy on the way up. The beautiful mountain scenery combined with a test of wills against beautiful rainbow/cutthroat/brook/brown trout was a very uplifting and special experience to me!

When I am at my mother's house...I will be living next to a huge man made dam for a very large and beautiful lake. I grew up in that house so I will be going home. We will be there to take care of her...my Golden Retriver will love playing in the water. I have often walked along it and prayed. As soon as I am better I will be able to do so again and feel the Spirit of his creations. Going to doctor Thursdy to discuss surgery.
