I think HC's reputation has stabilized and perhaps even improved now the Chumlee is more prominently featured on Pawn Stars.

Can some people here explain to me what the definitive comparative differences in mormonism compared to any other major/biblical religion? Like what is the fundamental beliefs of this religion that makes it separate from others? I used to be mormon but I converted to Islam several years ago and I'm doing a lot of comparative studies.

For example in modern "Christianity" the biggest difference compared to Islam is that Jesus, peace be upon him, is taken as the literal son of God whereas Islam says he is a prophet and the messiah. Catholics see God as the trinity (which is really confusing) seeing Jesus, peace be unto him as God and same as Gabriel (Holy Spirit).

What is mormonism fundamentally? I have a book of mormon (with my name on it :]) and references are highly welcome.

10. Mormon banks finance mob-owned hotels and casinos in Las Vegas. (In 1954, Mormon backed bank "The Bank of Las Vegas", Bank President Perry Thomas, BoLV loaned money to casinos owned/run by mob)

I am not sure how you can determine a "side" when all someone does is present the information as delivered. Each numbered item is exactly how the "thing" was presented by History Channel. The information in the parenthesis is a very brief explanation of what was said about the "thing" - in almost every case I used the exact wording of the narrator. In both of the discussions on "10 thing" about Mormon, no one posted what the 10 things were. It seems the angst against the "10 Things" is not the "10 things" but rather the explanations for each thing.

Is this type of program's half truths something that needs to be addressed by groups like "Mormon Voices"?

It might be useful in the future to make it clear exactly what the objective of the post is, as perhaps you might have said "according to the History Channel...."

The name of the game is viewership numbers. Accuracy and fairness are not part of that equation. If they get you to watch and then to respond, they have won the game.

I understand what you are saying about viewership, but I do not entirely agree. There are other factors involved. I guess what I'm getting at is that me watching and responding does not necessarily mean they have won. In fact, as a social studies teacher and school superintendent who will now hesitate purchasing their productions in our school district - maybe I can feel better about myself.

I think it is likely Bernard was thinking of future views of shows as well the current one as people watch controversial shows just to see what others are talking about including for the purpose of criticizing them, though since he is a music teacher if my memory serves me correctly, he probably didn't project purchasing possibilities for schools. Don't think they have too many music centered programs on the HC.

I would have thought HC had lost any relevance to education awhile back myself.

is your concern with the 10 things, or with the "filler" information about the "10 Things"? I found it disappointing that nothing was cited or sources.
