Bill “Papa” Lee Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Can you imagine what the anti-community would do if we just built the Temple a few miles away? I am trying to envision what the thread titles would look like.Joseph Smith was wrong about the “Center Place”…Church does not own Temple Lot!D&C was wrong Temple was not built in time!Looks like a “mall” to me!What would be your title?BTW...beautiful Temple...http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/kansascity/
skippy740 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Why not change the city borders? (Sounds easier to me.) 1

Bill “Papa” Lee Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 It would be fascinating to see an LDS temple stand alongside the Community of Christ temple. Both would be symbols of the Restoration...True...although the top of that building just looks strange to me.http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.dlmark.net/images/ttemplelot2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.dlmark.net/tindependence.htm&h=400&w=275&sz=20&tbnid=EZA7YDDrhYyelM:&tbnh=90&tbnw=62&zoom=1&docid=OHJVD-P0Bm6J5M&hl=en&sa=X&ei=l4WET8m8MoP20gH1q9TMBw&ved=0CEcQ9QEwBQ&dur=314
Damien the Leper Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 It resembles a seashell. You should look up into the spire from inside. The spiral sparkles.
Whiskeypete Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 We could refer to the area as the Land of Independence. That gives us a few miles leeway
Thunderfire Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 True...although the top of that building just looks strange to me.http://www.google.co...Q9QEwBQ&dur=314I acknowledge that many buildings look strange. It simply means they are one of a kind. What fascinates me is that in the early 1900's the churches womens department wanted to raise funds for the future temple. The symbol they choose for their lapel pins was a sea shell. Who would have guessed! This design is found all through nature: Of course the sea shell, but also the galaxies in the universe, the whirlpools of water, even tornado's. And as Valentinus mentioned, it is breathtaking from the inside as well.We really can't compare the Community of Christ temples (Kirtland and Independence) with those of the LDS, because they usages are much different. But in either case, the members see them as a place to "meet God" in a good way and in this I am content.

Evangeline Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 It resembles a seashell. You should look up into the spire from inside. The spiral sparkles.Wow! That sounds pretty cool! I'd love to see it sometime.
Damien the Leper Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 You should. The Independence Temple, for me, inspires hope and the drive to persevere and endure with faith. It also stands as a beacon of God's love and ability to reward and bless.
thesometimesaint Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Looks like a drill bit to me, but then I like drill bits.
