In the best-known incident, Mary Fielding Smith’s oxen were spared to bring her pioneer family, including a future President of the Church,How many priesthood holders here annoint their animals with consecrated oil and give blessings of health as they do for humans? Is there a Church policy on this?

I have even greater respect for animals that bear our burdens and who give their lives so that we might live. Cats are clean, don't need a lot of looking after, and don't have a funny smell. All you need to do is to feed them, and they will be your friend forever. They definitely belong to the celestial kingdom. Cats have no loyalty to anyone except themselves. If you feed them every day the day will come when they see someone else that looks nicer or more likely to give them more and they are gone. I once had a friend who raised a cat from a 'pup' and then one day it disappeared. Three years later (I was there that night) the cat showed up and pranced in, expecting to be fed and catered, as if nothing ever happened. You will never find any dog that will act like that to their human. 'Nuff said about those pesky felines. MWP.S. thesometimesaint Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Cats are the only domesticated animal that stays with humans by choice. Abuse a dog and it make it mean, but it will stick with you. Abuse a cat and it will leave and find some other place to live.

MWAll domesticated animals, if you feed and show them kindness, can be lured away from their owners, including dogs. Many years ago I was acquainted with an LDS family in Utah. They had a large family, including a couple of grown up children who had been married and left home, and a few smaller ones who were still living with their parents. One of their grown up children (who had been married and left home), had a black Labrador dog. One day they came and stayed with their parents for a couple of days, and brought the dog with them. After they returned home the dog escaped, and after wondering in the streets of Salt Lade City for a few days eventually found its way to the parents home where they had stayed for a couple of days. It is a mystery how it found its way. They live on the other side of the town, miles away. They said that when the dog found them, it was so exhausted that it drank large a quantity of water, and then collapsed. The parents home was a crowded home, with frequent visitors and children at home who liked to play with the dog. The dog apparently enjoyed that company and the attention he received there, and decided that was the right place for him to be! After that the parents decided to keep the dog. They thought it was too cruel to send it back. Cats are as affectionate and loyal as dogs, but they have different personalities, and show it in different ways.P.S. I have an older lady down the street who tells me her cats don't stink but it is almost 'gag city' every time I go down there to help her. Yuck!!! MWJust because somebody's home smells, it is unfair to blame it on the cat. Some people when they get old find it difficult to take care of the place, and their living quarters may develop a sent. It is not the fault of the poor cat.

I've been eaten alive my mosquitos in the backcountry, and with a one week lifespan, times the number of lifecycles in a summer, times a few thousand years,......yowsers. Maybe they all get sent to perdition. Living in a constant cloud of eternal skeeters, with roaches and bilge rats scurrying everywhere. Sounds like a good definition of hell to me.

Sounds like a good definition of hell to me.I would have to add spiders, leeches, and most snakes to the list of animals that I would not like to see ressurected.
MorningStar Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 When I lost my dog, I just couldn't imagine how much worse it would be losing a parent, brother, sister, etc., but I had such a hard time with it because I didn't know if our dog would still be our dog in Heaven. When I lost my aunt and grandpa, there was more peace that I would see them again. I'm so sorry for what you're going through! Although it's not doctrine, I personally believe that we will get to be with our pets again.
