Well Romney lost the South Carolina primary; he got a distant second place showing there.

The religion factor may have played a part, but a significant one.

The way Romney has been campaigning the past week, I'm wondering if he and his staff got hit with a stupid stick, because even I have been turned off with the way they have been going about things.

For one, HE NEEDS TO RELEASE HIS FLIPPIN' TAX RETURNS!

And two, he needs to stop acting all polished and perfect in the debates; that image doesn't help him much, in fact its a turn off to some.

He really, REALLY needs to be way more down-to-earth, and stick it to Newt.

The GOP had better get behind one candidate soon and not make the same 2008 mistake of picking a McCain or they will loose this golden opportunity.

McCain had a better chance against Obama than any other potention GOP candidate. There was just no way a GOP candidate was going to win that election, no matter who it was.

Ugh here we go again. Please someone demostrate how America as a whole.finds it socially acceptable to pick on the LDS. what we have in the OP a subculture within a subculture, hardly society as a whole.

That may be true, but I suspect that if Romney wins the Republican nomination, most of the anti-Mormon attacks will come from the last people who would be caught attacking him for his religion right now.

I mean the left leaning political commentators who are so eager to tell the other side who they think their most electable candidate is.

Far be it from them to criticize the Mormon faith now, but will it be so far from them when a white Mormon is running against a black President?

In the general election, I think we can safely expect to hear the likes of Bob Beckel and Allan Colmes informing the public about "the Church's history on racial issues" (i.e. the priesthood ban, and Brigham Young's views on slavery and interracial relationships.)

It wont be the same kind of religious bigotry those ignorant evangelicals in the Republican party engaged in during the primary, of course.

But it will be every bit as relevant as Mike Huckabee's views on evolution were during the last election cycle.

The public simply has a right to know every thing they can about a candidates "world view," and these noble and unbiased journalists will simply being doing their duty (of informing the public.)
