Only At B.Y.U.! (Well, O.K.: Maybe S.V.U., Too!)

So I'm watching the BYU men's basketball game vs. Baylor this afternoon when I notice a sign in the SRO Marriott Center. The only thing on it is a scriptural reference. The reference? Alma 18:27. "What possible relevance could Alma 18:27 have to a men's college basketball game?," I ask myself. So, since I have my computer already booted up, I go to Scriptures.LDS.org and type in the reference. And, as unlikely as it may seem, it does indeed have relevance to a men's college basketball game (at least, it does when one's team is playing well). It's from Ammon's conversation with King Lamoni. What's it say?

And he said, Yea.

In my book, even those who hate BYU (or, at best, are antipathetic or apathetic toward the Cougs), have to admit that the sign is pretty clever. And where else, other than perhaps SVU, would one be likely to see it? :D

Pretty funny.

I wonder if there are any other scriptures that would work on a sign like that. If one's team loses, s/he could always use John 11:35 (a bit sacreligious, I know ...)

I watched the game too... so exciting... I found it interesting that in all previous games this year, Baylor held their opponents to 70 points or under. So the cougars did well at over 80 points though we eventually lost... :cray:

Carlino makes that last shot, and it's a whole different story (at least, potentially: even if he'd made it, it only would've tied the game and sent it into overtime, but still ...). Ah, well! The lad's a mere freshman. I doubt even Jimmer did as well in his BYU debut. Of course, there'll only ever be one Jimmer, but since there'll only be one Jimmer, I'll settle for him being the first Matt Carlino. I'm sure he'll make his mark in his own right. :)
