If so remember my premise is actual physical alien person or body.
LeSellers Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 (edited) 1. We know that 2/3 of premortal spirits rejected the plan that involved them coming to Earth to get bodies. Uh, that would be ONE third.More accurately, it's "the third part", which is not necessarily 33.33333...%.The actual wording in Revelation (not "Revelations") could just as well (or even better) mean there were two (or more) other parts. I am trying to make sense of it though. So people that believe in UFO's are really look for a savior other than God?

cinepro Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 (edited) Age-old questions again come to the surface: Is our earth the only world in all of space that has intelligent inhabitants? Or is there life on other worlds—perhaps intelligent beings like ourselves or maybe even more intelligent than ourselves? Might they visit us?One of the most exciting things for many Latter-day Saint students to learn is that the Church, through revelation from God (who—have you ever thought of it in this light?—is our contact from outer space), teaches some of the answers to these questions. And we’ve had the answers for quite some time.People On Other Worlds, The New Era, April 1971 Edited August 16, 2011 by cinepro
Ahab Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I am not much of a what if fan but this idea intrigues me. If the US government were to publically reveal either live aliens or the bodies of aliens. How would it affect:1) Your practice of your religion?1) It would depend on who those aliens were or are and if they were making any suggestions regarding my religion. It is possible that the US government would facilitate some more revelation of Jesus Christ, perhaps by the US President introducing him to the world at large prior to him making something like a State of the World address on television, with Jesus telling us what the next steps would be for his disciples... as well as our role regarding the people who don't follow him.2) Your belief in and concept of God?It would depend on what the "aliens" were saying, or maybe what they looked like.It is possible that Jesus could now have short brown hair, instead of long black hair, and his robe might not be white.Ultimately I think it would mainly serve to strengthen my hope that more scientists on Earth would eventually figure out what I already know.

(Hebrews 2:4)It is Biblically reasonable to conclude that based on the Greek in the referenced passages that Satan will or has the power to duplicate some of the things the Holy Spirit does as counterfeit miracles to deceive people with:For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)
LeSellers Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Besides, I never said "Revelations". So there! No, you did not say "Revelations". In fact no one in this topic has (aIr). But there were many people who thought it.Lehi

Is it a manifestation of satan or is it a sign from God?
Ahab Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Hello, I am your new hometeacherI think you need a US government official standing next to the U-48B, maybe introducing them to Mike and Jeff who are on board.
ERayR Posted August 16, 2011 Author Posted August 16, 2011 Hello, I am your new hometeacherThat would be cool and you would certainly have a way to introduce the gospel to your neighbors.
coolrok7 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 OK you have me confused. Is it a manifestation of satan or is it a sign from God?There are both. God created all things, even angelic beings. Lucifer became the devil or Satan after he fell. As an angelic being he has power to counterfeit the things attributed to the Holy Spirit in the verses I quoted from.Satan can manifest things already created for the purpose of deception in which God allows, just like He allowed Adam and Eve to be tempted by Satan:You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature; for he is a liar, and the father of lies. (John 8:44)And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) God has given signs for the purpose of confirming past prophecies and He also has given Satan the power in which Satan has abused the power given him to deceive people with instead of what angels are to be doing, assisting the heirs of salvation:Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? (Hebrews 1:14)The end result for not only Satan (the devil) and the other fallen angels but also for those who believe his lies, the goats, as contrasted with the sheep who gain eternal life:When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: . . .Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: . . .And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. (Matthew 25:31-34, 41, 46)
Mola Ram Suda Ram Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 There are both. God created all things, even angelic beings. Lucifer became the devil or Satan after he fell. First, this is not biblical at all. There is not a single verse of scripture that even alludes to the idea that Satan can "counterfeit the things attributed to the Holy Spirit". The verse you quote say nothing of the sort.2nd, if I allow that this is the truth, that Satan can impersonate the HG, then there is absolutely no way of knowing that anything is from God. I am sorry Cool, but you just destroyed your own theology with out even knowing it.

coolrok7 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 OK if the scenario in the OP were to happen what would be your reaction? From the devil or from God?-I am not much of a what if fan but this idea intrigues me. If the US government were to publically reveal either live aliens or the bodies of aliens. If it were to happen? I usually stick to the what is and in my experience a lot of the ufo phenomena and the people involved usually are accepting of the idea of reincarnation (a dogma of bothHinduism/Buddhism which is not compatible with Christianity and resurrection) after these encounters and other eastern metaphysical/New Age teaching which makes me highly suspicious of the source.Believe me, I’ve listened to a lot of Gearge Norry’s Coast to Coast AM radio program (I drive into work early every day) and he has these people on his program who are believers in it all the time. It’s like a broken record.
coolrok7 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) Mola, I think you need to look at the relevant verses I provided (the Greek behind the translated terms I believe is the same when it comes to signs and wonders, the exception is that Satan’s are referred to as “lying wonders"):God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? (Hebrews 2:4)Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work. I wasn't asking about those you note are usually accepting of UFO's (though I might argue with your assertion). I was asking for non-LDS christians to comment on how it would affect their faith and beliefs and how it would affect the practice of their religion if irrefutable proof of alien contact were given. Now can one non-LDS christian on this board please answer the questions or is it too uncomfortable to think about?
inquiringmind Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 (edited) Doesn't LDS scripture tend to support the existence of extra-terrestrial biological entities? If there's any truth to UFO reports, and we were to actually make contact, it would be interesting to learn what their religious traditions are (and why they're interested in earth.) Edited August 22, 2011 by inquiringmind
thesometimesaint Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 inquiringmind:Only obliquely. God tells Moses that there are worlds without number, but that God is only going to tell Moses about this one. Those that have been through the Temple have one more.
ERayR Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 Doesn't LDS scripture tend to support the existence of extra-terrestrial biological entities? If there's any truth to UFO reports, and we were to actually make contact, it would be interesting to learn what their religious traditions are (and why they're interested in earth.)I have often thought the same thing. This thread was started primarily to get the non-LDS Christian respone to the questions posed but is seems none of them want to play. The question was inspired by a blurb that said something to the effect that the US government would release proof of alien contact in the near future. Although I am skeptical, because of what God told Moses, it wouldn't cause me any problems with my belief system and I am confident that the majority of LDS Christians feel the same. However, because of the belief in a unique creation that I have found among the non-LDS Christions, that I know, I was curious about their reaction, but alas, as I have said, none of them seem to want to play.
