Mark 16:16 - "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved"

M'r:16:16: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Again belief is the key to the Kingdom of God and eternal life, not baptism or else the scripture would say at the end (he that believeth not and didn't get baptized is damned!

Catholics believe in baptismal regeneration but could not be comfortable with this argument. It could be argued that the Saviour set an example to follow. Most evangelicals believe that one should get baptized after salvation. They undoubtedly believe, as do Catholics, that Jesus did not need to be saved. Further, Jesus was baptized with John's baptism, which is apparently not quite the same as apostolic baptism, having the formula, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost: ---Ac 19:3-5

Scripturally speaking, I would tend to point to the words of Ananias to Paul when the latter was baptized. --Ac. 22:16

It seems to me like baptism "washed away Paul's sins".

But I could go either way with it if I wasn't Catholic. I see both arguments as being impossible to exclude if the 66 Book Protestant Bible is the only authority.

It is not only the RCC which is in error on this also but a church called the church of Jesus Christ, which is well known in my home town Boston to even be so dogmatic on baptism that only people baptized by their church are really baptized, and if you were baptized any where else you have to get baptized again in their church society or religious club as i call it!

You have the craftiness of demons, EV. The unbeliever would NOT be baptized anyways.

Then listen to this:

2 Nephi 31

[2] Wherefore, the things which I have written sufficeth me, save it be a few words which I must speak concerning the doctrine of Christ; wherefore, I shall speak unto you plainly, according to the plainness of my prophesying.

[3] For my soul delighteth in plainness; for after this manner doth the Lord God work among the children of men. For the Lord God giveth light unto the understanding; for he speaketh unto men according to their language, unto their understanding.

[4] Wherefore, I would that ye should remember that I have spoken unto you concerning that prophet which the Lord showed unto me, that should baptize the Lamb of God, which should take away the sins of the world.

[5] And now, if the Lamb of God, he being holy, should have need to be baptized by water, to fulfil all righteousness, O then, how much more need have we, being unholy, to be baptized, yea, even by water!

[6] And now, I would ask of you, my beloved brethren, wherein the Lamb of God did fulfil all righteousness in being baptized by water?

[7] Know ye not that he was holy? But notwithstanding he being holy, he showeth unto the children of men that, according to the flesh he humbleth himself before the Father, and witnesseth unto the Father that he would be obedient unto him in keeping his commandments.

[8] Wherefore, after he was baptized with water the Holy Ghost descended upon him in the form of a dove.

[9] And again, it showeth unto the children of men the straightness of the path, and the narrowness of the gate, by which they should enter, he having set the example before them.

[10] And he said unto the children of men: Follow thou me. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, can we follow Jesus save we shall be willing to keep the commandments of the Father?

[11] And the Father said: Repent ye, repent ye, and be baptized in the name of my Beloved Son.

[12] And also, the voice of the Son came unto me, saying: He that is baptized in my name, to him will the Father give the Holy Ghost, like unto me; wherefore, follow me, and do the things which ye have seen me do.

[13] Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism -- yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to his word, behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost; yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost; and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel.

[14] But, behold, my beloved brethren, thus came the voice of the Son unto me, saying: After ye have repented of your sins, and witnessed unto the Father that ye are willing to keep my commandments, by the baptism of water, and have received the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost, and can speak with a new tongue, yea, even with the tongue of angels, and after this should deny me, it would have been better for you that ye had not known me.

[15] And I heard a voice from the Father, saying: Yea, the words of my Beloved are true and faithful. He that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

[16] And now, my beloved brethren, I know by this that unless a man shall endure to the end, in following the example of the Son of the living God, he cannot be saved.

[17] Wherefore, do the things which I have told you I have seen that your Lord and your Redeemer should do; for, for this cause have they been shown unto me, that ye might know the gate by which ye should enter. For the gate by which ye should enter is repentance and baptism by water; and then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and by the Holy Ghost.

[18] And then are ye in this strait and narrow path which leads to eternal life; yea, ye have entered in by the gate; ye have done according to the commandments of the Father and the Son; and ye have received the Holy Ghost, which witnesses of the Father and the Son, unto the fulfilling of the promise which he hath made, that if ye entered in by the way ye should receive.

[19] And now, my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this strait and narrow path, I would ask if all is done? Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far save it were by the word of Christ with unshaken faith in him, relying wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.

[20] Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.

[21] And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.

The words of Jesus are just and true.

Bernard

But that is not bible !

I can also show good religious words from a Koran but does it hold any truth and void, and is the true word of God of the bible??

It is the Book of Mormon, which hold equal authority to the Bible. Whether or not you accept it is, quite frankly, irrelevant.

If you believe in Jesus you will do as He commands... get baptized. It is as simple as that... those who truly have faith in Christ do as He asks- those who only pay Him lip-service do not.

I agree and that is why I take new believers through a baptism course first so they don'z come up wet sinners and many has been!

I show them how to get saved and born again first , then the rest follow.

Seek yee first the Kingdom of God and the rest is easy!

You are seeing only part of scripture; you take one verse and understand it to mean everything? if "beleiving" is all we need to do then why did not the bible say one word and nothing else... i;e;; "beleive"... what about all the many other things jesus taught??/ are they not important? and also "before one "CAN" be baptised one must "beleive" it seems this is where you are getting off track.:P

Just listen to the Holy Spirit and also meditate on the teaching of the apostle paul you will finally agree with me and other christians!

Newflash,,, that is exactly what the LDS Missionaries do in the "Discussions". They don't just go around baptizing random people off the street.

No... the Koran denies that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world... the first, and foremost, indication that it is a false, demonic book.

Moroni 10:6

And whatsoever thing is good is just and true; wherefore, nothing that is good denieth the Christ, but acknowledgeth that he is.

It has ALWAYS been that way... they teach the person to have faith in Jesus Christ and teach them the principles of the Gospel (as they believe) and then invite the person to be baptized. What false information have your "Pastors" been teaching you? Or did you make up the false impression of LDS missionaries all on your own?

No... the Koran denies that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world... the first, and foremost, indication that it is a false demonic book.

Also the Bom denies the garce and eternal redemption of Christ , and put all they can do and must do on themselves as members of the BOM society!

Also the denial of the trinity and Jesus as the creator of all thing and not a man make the whole organization and BOM a false demonic religion as well.

But it is no more a secret the world is seeing the fruits of momonism at it best along with Islam and JW and RCC paganism beliefs, and religious books which are not alive like the bible!

People are tired of all these false prophets and false apostles, they want what is real and what is working for their soul and body, and being a true witness where demons run and don't join them.

People don't want lucky lucks or a mickey mouse , they want what works in their lives and others, they want true love and humblenesss, uncondition love and freedom and non condemnation in Christ, instead of religion teach hell and brimestone and another pit stop before heaven!

When i was talking to some young nomons today i was shock of the lack of knowledge they had on grace and about Jesus righteousness and justification towards us.

They explained it is a must in all you must do to get saved, and that is in the BOM!

When at last I starzed taliking about the priest hood and about blacks not able at one time to recieve it or become president of Mormon churchy they ran like cats!

EV,

You mean heretics like John, Peter, and YHWH Himself?

Not to mention Paul himself!

How can you be considered "IN" Christ without being baptized into his death?

Romans 6:3

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Galatians 3:27

For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

The only way to enter in at the Straight gate is to follow Jesus into the Waters of Baptism. Otherwise, you are a robber and a theif and are climbing up by some other way.

Do you think or interpretat the bible as every time the word baptism or baptized is mention it mean directly a water baptism or a water ritual??

You must keep the Word of God in contexts!

Have you heard of a spiritual baptism?

A blood bapism in Christ Jesus ??

There are 2 Baptisms spoken of in the Bible... one of Water and one of Spirit. One washes the outside and the other washes the inside. You miss one and you are climbing up by some other way, and are only half-clean.

Hebrews 10:22

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, AND our bodies washed with pure water.

* That "AND" throws your doctrine for a real loop!!!

The doctrine you are teaching isn't the doctrine of Christ...

Hebrews 6

1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, [ <- notice the plural] and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

but the doctrine of a viper who is affraid of the water and our BIG fish, Jesus Christ

Sura 11

MECCA - 7 verses

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds!

The compassionate, the merciful!

King on the day of reckoning!

Thee only do we worship, and to Thee do we cry for help.

Guide Thou us on the straight path,2

The path of those to whom Thou hast been gracious;

Water Baptism is a symbolic representation of what has happened in our spirits.

As Paul states in Galatians 2:20 "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Being crucified with Christ, and baptized into Christ is the same thing. We do a water baptism not because the physical act of getting wet saves us, but because it declares to everyone what has happened to us spiritually.

so we can ignore commandments of God if they command us to do something symbolic? We only have to do those physical acts that actually affect us in a physical way?
