For cross country travel, I'm thinking I'd rather take a train or drive long distances than be subjected to this, and just skip overseas travel altogether until TSA comes to their senses.

If I pose to be viewed in completely nude by the TSA (At least one image scanner has saved the images and said images were posted on the internet, the images were obtained via a FOIA request, the group that requested the images posted those images on the net, did so to prove a point, i.e. that the nude images can be saved.)

I read a article where a letter was issued by a Muslim group instructing Muslim woman to opt out of the nude image scan, and to instruct the TSA agent performing the hands on molestation, that the Agent can only touch above the neck line. I have not found a religious exemption to the nude image or molestation. What I do say with confidence, not 100%, is that I have found nothing in the Law that requires a person to complete a molestation or nude image scan. The investigation by the TSA towards the guy who refused both, is a nuisance investigation designed to scare others to not refuse.

The nude image only looks at what is above the skin, someone intent on committing murder and suicide at the same time, should have not problem finding a body cavity to store deadly amounts of explosives.

I have very tempted to go to the airport in just a speedo or even g-string depending on how much of my bum cheeks can legally be visible.

I think it is a violation of modesty, privacy, and common sense. Our family will not be flying until we hear a massive popping noise emanating from Washington DC from all the heads being pulled out of hind ends.

From what I understand of the letter from the Muslim Authority, they had no basis to claim that Muslim women could only be hand search from the neckline up. I was unable to find any religious exemption to any aspect of the airport screening.

Maybe we should all write to our favorite airline(s) (the ones we use most often) and let them know that they're losing customers.

airports can opt out of having TSA screen passangers, however, I tend to doubt whether a private company (and I distrust a private company more than the Fed) would be permitted to provide less security than the TSA. For me to travel by train for thanksgiving, I first would have to drive 4 hours to the train depot, then ride a train for 4 days. I could drive and get to my destination in 12 hours, but with an infant that isn't much fun.

The head of TSA at our airport stated in a recent interview that their machines have absolutely no mechanism for saving an image. In fact, he said if they had to show in court that they had probable cause for detention and a more invasive search based on what the machine showed, they would be unable to prove what it showed.

Anyway, since airplane travel is not a constitutional right, those who refuse to be scanned or patted down will just have to find another way to travel, I suppose. As for me, I have no hesitation going through the body scanner, especially if it's the shortest path through security.

No, because the people who go through them are consenting to go through them as part of what it takes to fly on those airlines.

I'm not, and I don't ever plan to be. I'd be subject to them only if I chose to fly on their airlines, and I won't go through that procedure.

The funny thing is, if they didn't tell me somebody was looking at nude pictures of me when I went through that kind of scanner, I wouldn't think anything about it, because people who go through that don't actually undress when they go through it.

What's would be happening, though, is that somebody would be virtually taking my clothes off as I went through those scanners, if I chose to go through one, and I don't want anyone to do that except for maybe my wife.

I didn't think it was the TSA. It was other fed agencies that stored the images.

That is what happened to me. SLC airport put one in over a year ago, to test. They randomly sent people through it, and they had me, my husband and daughter go through. We had no idea what they were doing. It was all men doing the testing! It creeps me out.

It then becomes a matter of class, those who can afford it get around it, the steerage passengers have to go through the humiliations.
