What is so great about temple marriage besides the benefits in the afterlife?

Tithing considerations aside, it's free.

Not the only benefit, of course, but an important one.

Tithing considerations aside, it's free.

Not the only benefit, of course, but an important one.

Now that is a very interesting insight that I had not previously considered.

I wonder how much tithing the average temple-married couple have collectively paid by the time that they marry in the temple, and how that amount compares to the cost of the average "gentile" marriage in a church or hall with all of the frills. It could possibly be that the temple-married couples' tithes up to that point are the lesser amount.

If the view of tithing is a charitable giving, you might have a point.

But if the view of tithing is payment of debts, I would differ in opinion as to the comparison.

My wife and I have argued, and we have even had very contentious times in our lives, but the guiding light, the thing that makes us hold on, even when we are at storm with one another, is the temple marriage. When we go back and carry out vicarious temple ceremonies for dead husbands, wives, and families, and we hold hands, it only helps us remember more clearly why we are there.

The benefit of the temple, as I see it, is an intangible, but it is stronger than the more tangible large wedding one can pay for.
