2 weeks ago, my bad. general conference was this weekend and i enjoyed watching it on tv. all of this "religion"stuff is becoming more and more important too me as i get older. i dont have any particular story to get down? i am actually excited to get into the teachings again! why is that so scary too you!! isnt this a place to talk about these subjects? if not I will find another in my learning journey. i will have a short lived life on this site if only tpes like yourself post here. i am not interested in a squabble

I will take the "uh, huh" as cautionary?? pride, lust, ignorance,etc.. kept me away. my family motivates me to get back. i am married, no kids. my wife was raised lds as well and goes to church regularly with her mother and father. she was married to a returned missionary and that did not work out so well. i think she was looking for a "bad boy" and that is what she found.

Yes. First of all, I would think really hard about whether or not it is vital for the human race to have BofA. There is a good chance I would hold back on this because frankly I don't see anything in there that is necessary for our happiness. But I am not God....

Assuming I found it necessary for BofA to be revealed to mankind, I would probably do it the way Genesis was given to us. I would inspire Abraham to tell the story to his son who would then tell a slightly revised version to some sheep herder who then tells it to his nephew who then........ About 600 years later I would inspire someone to finally write this story down on some scrolls or carve it on a rock or something. I wouldn't tell anyone that the story changed since Abraham first told it, or that it contains influences from the Canaanites and the Greeks.

That is how these old stories are brought to mankind. We are left to wonder about them but not get too hung up on the fact that they just might be mythology.

You're clearly new here, and you need to understand that there is a huge range of characters here, coming from all kiinds of backgrounds. Here's a partial list of the types you'll hear from:

True Blue Mormons (TBM)

Still Faithful Questioning Mormons

Questioning Mormons looking for an excuse to leave the Church

Complete Apostates At War with the Church

Catholics who are Former Mormons

Catholics who were never Mormons

Protestants who are Former Mormons

Protestants who were never Mormons

Former Mormons who are now Atheist/Agnostics

Some who defy classification, such as Tzuzuki

We frequently get new posters who come here from certain anti-Mormon boards, in apparently honest and earnest searching for truth, and then they eventually reveal themselves as here to see how long they can slither and slide until they get banned, going back to their places of origin boasting of how they pulled the wool over the Mormons. Certain TBMs here are quick to judge certain posting styles as of that type, and they react very quickly. Will Schryver is one such, a mighty debater, with a huge base of knowledge and craft at his disposal, but he is easily provoked to harshness. In my opinion, Will needs to chill.

Will: it is far better to give newbies the benefit of the doubt, than leap to conclusions based on little evidence. If they are wolves in sheep's clothing, they will reveal themselves soon enough -- and then you can roar at them.

Don't act too wronged. You have to remember that there are those of us who are quite aware of what you write elsewhere. We understand completely that the image of the sincere seeker of truth that you are fond of portraying on this message board is in stark contrast to the confirmed disbeliever in Mormonism that you are among your true "friends."

Frankly, I can see absolutely no purpose whatsoever in your attempting to learn more about Jews in Thebes or anything of the sort. Your already-reached conclusions concerning Joseph Smith guarantee your permanent disaffection from Mormonism.

Learning more about the Book of Abraham issue at this juncture isn't going to aid you in your determination about the truthfulness of Mormonism, is it? All it promises to gain you is more ammo for you to use when you come on this message board and create threads with seemingly innocuous titles like "Why would Abraham's writings be buried with a mummy?" Your intentions are clear. You are an actively evangelizing member of the DAMU. We get that. We see it all the time. My counsel to you is the same as I have given to other AIPs (and I give it sincerely): Get on with it already! Fine, you've decided Mormonism is not what it claims to be. So leave it behind! All you're doing by remaining here is fulfilling Joseph Smith's prophecy concerning apostates. And I can't believe you'd want to do that.

I have to wonder why someone would use the name Zeezrom if they didn't want to have a testimony of the Restoration. The original Zeezrom started out as a critic of the Church of Jesus Christ and later converted to become a valuable servant in the Lord's hand. So maybe this is a cry for help? What to do about it, I don't know.
