Would he have helped you leave an entire year early? I seriously doubt it sure there’s a few people who have been let off the hook a couple months early to start school. How many months was “several” in your case.
-
They should be afforded the same rights as say elder oaks and pres Nelson. Both have remarried since their first wives passed away. Neither of these marriages can/will result in children being born. Why do they get to be married and enjoy the “benefits” of marriage when they cannot have children annd definitely wouldn’t be allowed to adopt due to age? Oaks second wife was 53 when they married… she isn’t having kids at 53. Why did they marry? Pres Nelson’s wife was 56… yep no chance of having kids. May as well be gay.

I’m pretty sure in this case his athletic status at byu is the only thing the church will care about. No one else will get passed like this unless they are “special “ like him. Do you think the church or a mission president or any church leader would encourage your average Peter priesthood missionary to leave a mission early just to go to school, or join the military etc? I doubt it. The mission presidents job is to keep you there at pretty much any cost. Why? Because they can’t have missionaries just Willy nilly leaving their missions by choice. Creates a staffing headache and also a shaming headache at home. Will concede though that quitting your mission early for pretty much any reason doesn’t carry the stigma it once did. We just had a kid come home after just seven months and they had a homecoming for him. I have never seen that and we had an approximate quit rate of about sixty percent in my last stake. Those kids came home and you never saw them again. Shame shame like gomer Pyle says.

Looks like elder holland had made it clear to missionaries at the mtc what the church thinks of missionaries who do not complete their missions for reasons other than medical, emergencies or tragedies. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3s5Wq4Z4kMk

Church Catalog releases John Taylor's 1886 Revelation

The fact they vote as to whether or not a revelation will be followed tells us all they don’t even take themselves seriously. If they really think that is the way to go then what do we need them for? After all they are on record being wrong a number of times so yea they are kinda useless. Not to mention other times they have lied to the membership. Who knows what to trust with these guys. -
I’m fairly confident the only concern the church has is how this benefits the church. Sports (Football) at BYU is more important than pretty much anything else esp if you have a star Mormon player. I mean look at what they pay the coach ($3mm /yr) He is the highest paid employee of the church. Whatever brings in the money. As for anyone else’s career aspirations I don’t see the church openly stating yea well if you want to start work or college earlier, just tell us how many months you want to serve if at all. Any adjustment will be according to how much revenue or goodwill (Donny osmond) you can bring in. They didn’t even give archuleta a pass. They prob already figured he is gay anyway and according to elder Bednar there are no gay members of the church.. so

It isn’t an impression of favoritism, it literally is favoritism.

Apparently the church approves of Charlie bird’s gay marriage. To my knowledge he and his husband/wife are active members still in Idaho and have callings in their ward. if they still have the same status then the church obviously approves. or the first presidency does not have the fortitude or conviction in their beliefs to compel a local leader to EX them just as they have done to many others for much less. the bishop in this article is apparently correct. Just following the example of the leaders of the church.

Church Catalog releases John Taylor's 1886 Revelation

Not trying to counter, just saying that despite the GA leadership telling us we can get our own revelation, they are not shy about saying “yea that’s nice, your revelation is fake.” Revelation a member received is just as valid as the revelation they received in the past about blacks and the priesthood (ban) or the salamander letter for example. -

I think the church would agree for example that if a member was to file fraudulent disclosures with the government along with affirmations they are true would be evil and a violation of not only many tenets of Mormon teachings but a violation of the ten commandments as well. It is not being honest with your fellow man and can and should result in the revocation of a temple recommend. when the church does it.? Good to go. This matter is closed. -

True…, but then we have apostles who say this: To illustrate his point, Mr. Oaks told a story about some church members whose LDS parents claimed to have received a revelation which stated that they no longer were required to tithe or attend church. When asked to comment, Mr. Oaks said, “Well, I don’t question your parents’ revelation, but they got it from the wrong source.” [-1:21:20] -

Esp in respects to hey I received a revelation from the Lord! We need to have a vote to decide if we are going to obey him. the leadership is pathetic… full of excuses and no one is in charge… no one -
Agreed no boots on ground, but we don’t know how the regime is gonna act going forward. They are dumb enough to ramp up the war via proxies so it shows up everywhere. I think the proxies are going to fade away because now Iran probably can’t afford to fund and supply them. Israel will continue to attrit their ability to export their toys. people mention sleeper cells from time to time. I worked with saudis while I was in the military and the Saudis lived here in the states. They were more or less relatives of royalty and had lived here for up to a decade or more in many cases. They loved it here because they could drink, whore around, go to strip clubs etc. Even as men and family of royalty they were just like everyone else except they didn’t have to work. They chose Saudi military service and university in the states as an escape from Saudi except eventually they had to come home and bring all their training with them to the Saudi military. They hated living in saud because they had no freedom. In their opinions sleeper cells was a flawed tactic in the states once the people got here and were on their own. Sure they had funding but they could also disappear with ease and never be found. I’m thinking they might be on to something because the sleeper cells thing has always been on the table-so far so good but my work with them was back in 2004 so quite some time back. obviously things can change. tin foil hat on- maybe the Saudis are the sleeper cells

I agree. I’m just joking as I know the church wouldn’t cancel (or nearly so) the mission program like they did in ww2. Plenty of non Mormons willing to fight if needed they don’t need any of our kids to help.
-
Well looks like they need to start cancelling missions for the foreseeable future. Need our youth to go fight this war. Former Sen Smith of Oregon and Boyd K Packer would want them to. Need to make the Middle East a democracy to prepare it for the gospel. This has potential to be a mess, but i think the people of Iran will have their own tea party soon. We just have to destabilize it enough.

Can you provide evidence from the church where they insist he didn’t have sec with any of his polygamous wives? Even the church had not come out and denied all sexual relations. -

I’m going to assume you are married and have kids. If that’s true, absent your or your (husband / wife’s ?? Don’t know if u are Male or Fem) personal testimony, what evidence exists y’all had sexual relations until someone was pregnant? Did you write it in your journal, did you bragg to your friends? Did you take pics or make videos??? Doubt it just like the rest of us here. Being married in and of itself ( time and eternity in Mormonland) it is assumed married couples have sexual relations unless they are violating their covenant to multiply. Anyone who believe JS didn’t have any sexual relations at all with any of these women is delusional. If I was married to them I’d have sex with them.. I mean we’re married so why not? This church used to make American Mormon couples who civilly married wait at least a year before they could be sealed . Why is that? The official narrative was to ensure the newly married couple understood the importance of the endowment and sealing before being sealed. Funny thing is I went through the temple (our first endowment my wife as well) one week before we were sealed. No one cared if we understood a thing about it. the real reason for the one year wait ? The church just assumed the couple had been having pre-marital sex before getting civilly married. It’s a year of probation and how dare you get married civilly first.? With the exception of a new convert in the marriage, civil marriage in the us for Mormons is scandalous. Why?? Because they were fornicating You s automatically assumed -

They are “married” - it is safe to assume he had sex with several of them… to include the 14 year old and a few other guys wives. A hubby and wife have got to be out of their mind to let some other guy marry the wife. People who are ok with that program likely bought into consummation of the marriage as well. After all it would be ok with God if they did right? -

I suppose we then have to consider whether or not god appointed the women to Joseph despite them already being married to some other dude. I’m sure joseph would insist they were. He also insisted he only had one wife. I seriously doubt 11 men were ok with Joseph marrying and having sex with their wives. If they were then what kind of gospel is this. And other men were ok with other leaders marrying their wives too??? I don’t buy a bit of it. What a sick bunch. -

Looks like some women needed to be destroyed along with JS. Problem with all this is 132 miraculously materialized about halfway into JS marrying spree in order to shut Emma down. JS didn’t even have the nerve to present it himself. That’s a real prophet right there. There is a reason there wasn’t a published revelation until much later and there’s a reason JS continually lied about it and did it behind Emma’s back. It is because he is an adulterer. -

Don’t forget about polyandry. That is straight up adultery and many early church leaders practiced it. One of my ancestors when he left his mission in England took some married woman (not divorced, just took off) with kids back to the states with him, yep he married her. My family acts like he’s some kind of hero for the church. I’m like isn’t that adultery? Answer:: nope it was hard to get a divorce in england so they didn’t bother. In some place I’m sure it is too hard to get a divorce these days. I can’t see the church openly supporting marrying an already married woman if getting a divorce is a hassle. -

There is no explanation why they just now published it. They just explain what it is. Not to mention no press release, just a Friday night dump when no one is looking. Why not tell us all why all the storytelling despite it being allegedly well known to be legit for fifty ish or more years? They need to come clean on tons of stuff. The only reason they don’t is they have control over vast majority of the membership in the form of “don’t criticize your leaders, even if the criticism is true.”
