Popular Post Calm Posted January 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2022 (edited) Thought there might be items of interest for some in this article: https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/2021-year-in-review Quote A new Deseret Industries thrift store opened in Houston, Texas. This is the first such store outside the western United States. The Church’s 45 Deseret Industries locations offer associates job training, skill enhancement, career counseling and assistance with job placement. Interesting expansion given the rumors the Church is shutting down welfare projects in other ways outside the Mormon Corridor. This would be great if this became a frequent occurrence IMO. Not really anything to elaborate in my view, but I lucked out and found an article about it. Always nice when my memory proves accurate. I should have added “given the rumors awhile back” as the way I wrote it makes it sound current. It was further back than I realized. https://www.heraldextra.com/news/2013/jun/19/lds-church-clarifies-concerns-about-rumored-cannery-shutdowns/ The rumors were also more extensive than I realized. I am quite surprised it merited an article. And the versions I heard were not FBI related, but due to lack of participation by members or caring by the Church (it was basically giving up on East of the Mississippi because no one was converting, etc). Sorry. Didn't mean to make you chase your tail! All you had to say is that the rumors were that the government was going to shut down the canneries, and I would have said, "Oh. That. Sorry for the interruption! Carry on! " That'll teach you not to make offhand comments in posts, though! Edited January 10, 2022 by Kenngo1969
