Robert F. Smith Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Sept 22, 2021 (autumnal equinox), is the 194th anniversary of the retrieval by Joseph of the Gold Plates of the Book of Mormon from that unnamed hill convenient to the town of Manchester (JS-H 1:59). Of course, when Joseph took those plates from the hill in 1827, it was Jewish New Year's Day (Saturday, 1 Tishrei 5588). He hid the plates in a hollow log, and came back ten days later to get them, on 1 Oct 1827 (10 Tishrei 5588) on the Jewish Day of Atonement, the holiest day of the Jewish year. 4
