Adam and Eve, for example, are people who had only a spirit body like we did before we came down here, I'll call that Stage 1, but later were given an additional body which was the type of body they had until they fell, I'll call that Stage 2, at which point the body their spirit was in became mortal like ours are now, I'll call that Stage 3. The purpose of the atonement, as I understand it, or at least one of the purposes, is to give us a way to return to Stage 2, restored to the condition of Adam's and Eve's bodies before they fell, Stage 2, and as I also understand things, once we're restored to Stage 2 our spirit will never again be able to separate from the body our spirit is in. That would be death, if it happened, and supposedly we're not ever going to die again after we are resurrected back to our Stage 2 bodies. So that idea you mentioned doesn't seem plausible unless Jesus was not resurrected on that other world you postulate that he lived on before he came here to die, if indeed spirits never do separate from a resurrected body. Otherwise resurrected bodies can die and we'll have to worry about death even after we are resurrected. Not such a comforting thought, if you ask me. I'm looking forward to being bullet proof and having bullets bounce off of my resurrected body if someone ever decides they would like to shoot me. And I don't want knives to penetrate my body either. And I don't want to be blown up by any missile or bomb. In short, I do not want to have to die again after I die the first time. Once is all I signed up for. I think in the context of the scriptures saying our bodies and spirits are “never again to be separated” could just imply we can’t die of anything natural or, if it were possible, by someone shooting us or something. However, I don’t think that means a being, such as the Father or Son, couldn’t choose to shed that body if they wanted. They are, after all, Gods and have powers beyond our reasoning. We “twist” a lot scriptures in our theology to fit our view of the next life and God. Verses such as verses claiming there is only one God, that God has been eternal, that there is only a heaven and hell etc. etc. get explained away or we don’t take them literally..so I think the same thought process could apply to this verse as well. 1

Yeah but in this case I think it's more likely that some people are trying to twist scriptures to suggest Jesus died on some other planet to prove he was faithful before he came to this planet and died here, as well. I don't like to assume anything, preferring instead to believe what God tells me is true while I tr'y to think of what else I can ask him about. Most of the things I don't know now are things I haven't even considered before but as soon as I start considering them it doesn't usually take very long for God to chime in to let me know what is what. It's coming down like rain over here where I am. It is great to be me!

I don’t know if He was a Savior or just a “normal” person, but I do strongly believe He was mortal at one point. Well that's pretty solid but it doesn't imply reincarnation any more than it does for Christ.
