Joan Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 What's missing in the conversation about Barbara Snow and thus Satanic Ritual Abuse, is the challenging of what we in this country think Ritual Abuse is. As an excercize to broaden what may be narrow understanding of religion in general, we should contact our neighbors who may be practicing Pagans and ask them what their worship services are like and what God(s) they worship. They will likely report ritual worship and the worship of The Goddess (or the Earth) and other Gods and Goddesses we don't hear much about, for example Mithra or Isis. The average practicing Christian might not have a framework to include pagan worship in their mind and may insert "Satan" into a report they hear from a survivor of a deviant ritual. In actuality the ritual the survivor may or may not have participated in might not have had ANYTHING to do with "Satan" but that is the only God other than Jesus we are familiar with in our Christian framework and is the representation of "bad" thus helping us make sense of the deviant nature of the ritual - as in the harming of children or animals to please the God being worshipped. A practice that only Pagans who are criminals and dirty rotten people would even think of doing and may be doing in a Cult-like fashion. Pagan rituals never went away, we may have brought them with us across the plains from England and some of us may have practiced these rituals in a synchrotistic manner along side normative Mormonism.
Joan Posted September 5, 2019 Posted September 5, 2019 The intent of the post about paganism and ritual abuse was not meant to make anyone look bad, it was worded poorly
Calm Posted September 6, 2019 Posted September 6, 2019 (edited) “some of us may have practiced these rituals in a synchrotistic manner along side normative Mormonism.“ But that ritual abuses as described in these alleged crime so were always happening in massive amounts just where a limited few therapists looked or lived goes against probability. Probability is more likely therapists who were certain it was happening managed to find it because they created the claims, not discovered them. Edited September 6, 2019 by Calm

Which pagan rituals are you talking about? Do you know of any which were brought from England? And who is "us" in this case? I think the word you are looking for is "syncretistic", by the way.
