If apostasy happened, isn't the NT product of it?

From a LDS perspective, the church was largely apostate, but I personally believe that there were many true believers with great amounts of faith striving to attain holiness. 

Of course Catholics believe the Protestant Reformation was the real apostasy.

I can’t say I disagree either, but that doesn’t change the state of apostasy.

I would say the same thing about the Protestant reformation - “prayerful men considering many alternatives and selecting what they considered the best options. Who were striving to attain holiness.”  

That doesn’t make them any more right however.  It doesn’t diminish the need for the BoM and restoration.

So, you are doomed to live in apostasy......knowing what you know about the truth......and yet there's not much you can do about it.....

I’m not sure that I follow.  I believe in the restoration, so I wouldn’t say that I’m doomed to live in apostasy.

Its compilation during / after the apostasy doesn't make it the product of apostasy. The light, a product of God, still shines through darkness.
