Libertarians are for small government.  And they mean it.  Republicans say they want small government, but they only want it to be a bit smaller than the Democrats want it. <and won't vote for it as of late>

Libertarians consider taxation to be theft.  Republicans want less of that kind of theft, but are still pretty cool with it, in general.  In other words, they want less taxation that the Democrats do.

That's kind of it, in a nutshell.

When the media say that people like the Bundy's are "anti-government", they're lying. Or perhaps mistaken, but I'd go with lying.  They aren't "anti-government", they just want the government to stop being in everyone's face, owning everything (much of the land in the western US is owned by the federal government, and in Alaska is it darned close to all of it), and generally speaking mismanaging it to surprising degrees.

I describe myself as a fiscally conservative liberal/libertarian, but I tend not to agree with the Libertarian Party on a number of issues. I am not opposed to some social programs so long as we don't run up a debt to pay for them - for instance Social Security Disability. Most libertarians would disagree. I am liberal more in the classical sense than the modern sense which has become very leftist. Currently, the United States seems to be following the lead of the majority of European states which have become very socialized - a move which I believe is leading to their demise. The expense has caused them to have few children, and hence, they are literally disappearing.

I had to answer you on this board because after you asked you question I see it was shutdown and no further replys could be made. How does that happen & why? Was the post so terrible???

Anyway, "Is_that_really_True" is because I have learned that there is WAY more dis-information and rethoritic than truth or thoughtful conversation. I suppose my name could be "Please cite your sources because I will check them for the context of the statement you took out of the article" but that is a little long in the tooth!!  so that is my story and I am sticking to it.

I was saddened to see it shut down for replies. Whom do I ask about that and also I could not post in General, it was grayed out???
