Bernard Gui Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 Somewhere in the dusty recesses of my brain is the memory of an article or articles about Book of Mormon passages that contain similar materials or lists but that are many pages apart. This is interesting because there is no evidence Joseph asked scribes to read back what he had written perhaps days or weeks before in order to refresh his memory. I have looked in vain for this information. Can anyone help?

Smith Posted March 4, 2018 Posted March 4, 2018 (edited) Alma 36:22 provides a verbatim quotation from the words of Father Lehi in 1 Nephi 1:8, "he saw God sitting upon his throne, surrounded with numberless concourses of angels, in the attitude of singing and praising their God."[1] Since First Nephi wasn't even translated until after the book of Alma, and since the book of Lehi (as part of the infamous "116 pages" of Original Manuscript) had already been lost by Martin Harris, it is very difficult to imagine how this and other complex textual relationships came about and were coordinated -- except via a true historical sequence of plates, utilized and transmitted anciently, as described in the text. Another such quotation comes in Helaman 14:12, quoting from Mosiah 3:8, or perhaps both simply repeating a liturgical formula.[2] Mosiah 3:8 Helaman 14:12 8 Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning 12 Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Father of heaven and of earth, the Creator of all things from the beginning [1] J.
