Mezuzzah - door posts

Riffing just a bit on mezuzzah, the command to inscribe on one's doorposts.

Was reading a couple days ago in one of the Vinland sagas. Will find the name of the person later, unless someone beats me to it. But the gist is that he specifically had someone watch over his door posts that he left with that person for a bit.

Anyone who has seen the etched-wood stave churches in Scandinavia...why would someone ask doorframes to be watched over? What kind of visual and/or textual message was inscribed on it? (It's involved with someone who subsequently sailed to Vinland...so I think it's a pregnant question.)

You may recall in the passover the people were told to take the blood of a lamb and paint it not only on the lintel, but the doorposts. The doorposts of course support the lintel which holds the doorway open. Peter was a doorpost of the Savior.

John 10:1-2,7,9

That was a bit of a trip. Enjoyed it *very* much thank you.

Drilled down a few links deep. The danger from getting swallowed by the monster falling on the 1st and 15th day of each month brought to mind the warning to Julius Caesar: "beware the Ides of March."

On the top of my front door as I exit my home, I have a nicely framed sign; "Return With Honor"

Living in northeast Nebraska, here, where my children were the only members in their school... I have had many non-member guest leaving my house and remark what a wonderful saying.
