When was the first "Quad" published?

Purchased a copy of the Wheeleright Edition of the LDS Scriptures. It is supposed to be one of the earliest and most attractive Quadruple Combinationsever published.

Has me wondering: when  did the first Quad get produced/published?

It's not a quad, but I have a 1907 edition triple combination in my collection which includes the Lectures on faith .

The Church published is own edition of the Bible in 1979 so it had to be sometime after that when the quad came along.

I'm guessing mid-1980s.  I don't think a "quad" was available when I got my first scriptures in the eary 1980s (~1983), and I bought a small blue quad in 1989, so sometime between then.

I'm afraid I will have to correct folks about this. When I first studied the Gospel in 1978/79, Quads were commonplace.

These were the pre-1979 edition Quads, which had four separate cocordances/indexes, rather than the unified Topical Guide which has been extant ever since. My own first Quad was one of these. 

The older quads which I  saw were much more square and blocky, more like a leatherbound Collegiate Dictionary , but they clearly  existed and had been around for a while.  Many members in the late 1970's had Quads which I observed showed signs of much use

The Wheelright Edition "Quad" came out in 1956. I  have only been told that it was "ONE OF THE FIRST" Quads, implying there were similar editions even back in the 1950's.  The slang term, "Quad" may not have yet been coined,  but the concept of binding all Standard Works in a single volume had already been thought up, I  believe.

Sheesh.  I go to all the effort to dig out my Eborn's Guide to Mormon .Books, 2002 ed. And I can't find any listing for quads.  Has a number of BofM in Triples, first one I saw was 1909, but other than Triple, Quad and the individual names not sure where I might find them.

I read "somewhere" that the first quad was published specifically to fulfill the prophecy that the stick of Joseph and the stick of Judah would be "one in thine hand".    This was definitely someone's pet project.

Looks like 1979 is when the church had started publishing it's own version of the Bible and  it was included in new quads that were published after that year.

How do you account for the Wheeleright Edition of the LDS Scriptures, first published in 1956, some 23 years previous to 1979?

How do you account for my first Quadruple Combination,  purchased new in December of 1978, with four discrete indexes rather than a unified  Topical Guide? I had to carry a hardbound edition of the Topical Guide to supplement my study of the Scriptures.

How do you account for the numerous other copies of the Quad that I  recall seeing? 

I am not asking what year the Church first published it's own edition of the KJV Bible, which has been in the public domain for centuries.  

I am asking when were the first volumes of what we now term "Quadruple Combinations " or "Quads" published? Whether by the Church or via private publishing houses is a matter of indifference to me.

The Wheeleright Edition of the LDS Scriptures arrived today.  It is, essentially a Family Bible, not intended to be carried about.  Replete with family history pages and similar materials.
