This is absolutely true. We just sent off a missionary couple this week who are heading out to train teachers for this very purpose. It is an expansion of the provident living course.

What?  You're confirming that the claim I made in my OP is true?  Something I've been beat up here for sharing, is actually true? Well imagine that...I actually tell the truth. But will my detractors apologize. I rather doubt it.

PS: I'm frustrated that I've been put on mod restriction for telling the truth in another now closed thread...frustrating that I can no longer start threads...maybe it's time I just wish everyone good luck and move on...

Do you mean helping out with RMs (very believeable imo as I think I stated before) or the 70% RMs leaving claim?

the helping RMS. it is impossible to verify the latter and can only be a made up number.

To be clear, I am confirming that people are being called on missions to help return missionaries. Any time statistics that are posted without a source they are immediately suspect. Since the only organization that is keeping such statistics is the church, and since the church has not published any statistics on this issue, there is no way of knowing how many are leaving the church.

I know in my area of Utah County, I have seen a good number of young men go inactive before reaching the time of volunteering for a mission, but at least in my ward, nothing like 70% of RM go inactive. As a young man who went inactive myself, I am in no position to assume this is a permanent thing however. I believe many may return after experiencing "the truths" and unhappiness of the world.

For what it's worth, I find you to be a "sounding board" for issues people have with the church. I have not been particularly offended by you. I do think it is important to be able to discuss issues important to the church in an open forum. Being the object of censorship myself in other forums for my LDS views, I understand your frustration. If you decide to leave, I wish you all the best, and hope you will continue to search the truths of the gospel. Cheers :)
