This is an absolutely crazy post and video.  "All modern medicine is predicated on evolution?"  Crazy statement.  

This video is a talk by a psychiatrist.  It is essentially 48 minutes of speculation all based upon the enormous assumption that evolution is true.  In fact, this speaker starts out by saying that there is too little evolutionary thinking in modern medicine.  He notes the absence of evolutionary biologists in medical school faculties.  

He suggests possible reasons for humans being vulnerable to diseases from an evolutionary standpoint.  This is speculation.  There is absolutely no evidence offered that should be taken seriously.  

This guy has very little understanding of heart failure, which he uses as one example of evidence of how we do not treat the body appropriately.  He doesn't understand the physiology of heart failure at all.  He provides correlations between breast cancer incidence and melatonin levels as well as levels of progesterone.  He states that myopia still exists in human populations because we are in a novel environment- thus eliminating the influence of natural selection.  Wow.  What a claim.  No evidence whatsoever.  He even states that "hunter-gatherers did not have myopia."  I cannot believe how far out he goes and the claims that he makes.  

He states that bilirubin is only made by the body because it happens to be an anti-oxidant.  Apparently, he is entirely unfamiliar with the role of bilirubin in the biliary tract.  

Maybe the most outlandish statement he makes is that "highly heritable common diseases are caused by novel environmental factors."  In other words, what we think are genetic disorders really are only brought out by our novel, modern environment.
