If the Lights Went Out In America

Slate is an extreme radical left propaganda site.  They are demonizing Congressman Smith.  He is the chairman of Science, Space and Technology Committee.  Why are you calling him an idiot?   Both you and Slate are engaged in very emotional and very unscientific behavior.

You say he should not have access to NOAA's internal discussions because the congressman would not understand their meaning?  You also say NOAA is NOT withholding data from the satellites?   THEN you contradict yourself by saying Mr. Smith has neither the intelligence nor qualifications to understand the data.   More character assassination from you.   Why?

NOAA is not the only agency engaged in using warped science to further the radical agenda.  The EPA is also fighting against disclosing their scientific methodologies in order to demonstrate whether they are reproducible (or at least show transparency).  I will point you to a website that documents the unscientific behavior of the EPA.  Here is a snippet:

"Then came the admission. “The EPA acknowledges, however, that the data provided are not sufficient in themselves to replicate the analyses in the epidemiological studies, nor would they allow for the one to one mapping of each pollutant and ecological variable to each subject.” Yet in the very next sentence, the agency remained utterly defiant. “For reasons explained in our previous letters on this topic, these acknowledgments do not call into question the EPA’s reliance on these studies for regulatory actions.”  http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/223491/epas-science-problem-arnold-ahlert

Slate magazine definitely has a liberal bias, just like facts. Research the links. Lamar Smith is an idiot. The definition of which is someone lacking  judgement.

It is no contradiction. The data is available to the public, Mr. Smith wants the internal discussions of  what the data means. No one but the scientists involved has any right to those internal discussions.

Your conspiracy theories amuse me.

You have to remember federal agencies have to follow the law. Notice and Comment is the rule that says agencies need to open their meeting up and for changes that could have any affect on the public. IOW  they have to have a public announcement (Notice) for the citizens to address (Comment) on any issues or concerns that they may have. I am not talking Slate magazine but agencies like NASA, NOAA, EPA, etc..

So your comment; "No one but the scientists involved has any right to those internal discussions." is wrong.

It is the responsibility of Congress to review the performance/actions/priorities/integrity of all the agencies.  The Legislature has the "purse strings" and is obligated to see that money is well spent and the law is followed.  This is called "Advice and Consent."  The Executive is responsible for staffing and management of government workforce and assets.  For top level nominations, the Senate votes on whether to approve.

The Congress is the "BOSS" of those bureaucrats.  It is extremely unseemly for them to behave in such a defiant manner against Congress.  The acts of IRS, EPA, NOAA, etc, can rightfully be described as being subversive.
