Being right or wrong on a particular point (in this case, a disavowed sub-point) of doctrine does not matter. I think what matters is that the First Presidency and Twelve have the keys by which people can get the Gift of the Holy Ghost. They will not lead the Church astray, not only because the Lord would remove them from their place before they did, but because each LDS member personally has the antidote. Those who apply the Gift of the Holy Ghost will refrain from disputing points of doctrine, and those who receive the Holy Ghost will not receive the spirit of contention to do so (3 Nephi 11:29-30). What to conclude from these past leaders not being removed from their place? Either the Church was in no danger of being led astray (or not in enough danger, or not led enough astray); the doctrine wasn’t “wrong” or harmful or sufficiently “wrong” or harmful in its time and place; or the teaching that they would be removed from their place is “wrong.” Whether a teaching is right or wrong, or a prophet removed or kept, the Church still has the keys and he saints still have the Gift and companionship of the Holy Ghost, no matter how “wrong” he or his leaders may be in his belief or point of doctrine. With the removal of the restriction, the disavowal of supporting theories and the condemnation of racism, there is no point of doctrine left to be disputed. I have found that I can be wrong about some particulars and still progress from being right about more essential or overarching things. Three cheers for grace! 1

I need to bring you to a full stop there, Pa Pa. The Church did once believe that "our Prophets as of old are the mouthpiece of God." But no more. Today, God's will comes from a council of the First Presidency together with the Quorum of the Twelve. Only things on which all unanimously agree are considered doctrine. God has a lot more restrictions placed on what he can and can't reveal. Sad, but true. 1

Yes, but those days have long ended as stated in our Americian Constitution and in our own Articles of Faith...that "men are punished for their own sins and not Adam's transgression". In the OT, appears the scripture (pointing to the time of Christ), "that the children will no longer have their teeth set on edge for the sour grapes their parents have eaten" (a paraphrase, not sure if I quoted it correctly). I for one rejoice that the policy has ended and that it ended a few short months before the missionaries blessed me when coming to my home. Unfortunately God has renewed the policy of punishing children for the sins of their parents. Only now it is the straight children of gay parents.

This has left me scratching my head, trying to understand this issue.

The spirit of Kinsey must be doing a happy dance that we've finally reached a point where people are comfortable casually sexualising children. Edited December 17, 2015 by Hamba Tuhan 3

There might actually be a correct principle to be learned there.
