strappinglad Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 To continue the derail, I was unaware that so many mass shootings had occurred in the US. I was aware that there were 33,000 deaths by firearms per year with 11,000 homicides ,but that there were nearly one event per day where 4 or more people were shot is unbelievable. We are so jaded now that it takes over 10 dead before national attention is roused. http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/oct/02/mass-shootings-america-gun-violence

But we were almost late because we were stuck in traffic .2 mile from the venue. They really need to make that section of the road work better if they are going to be funneling hundreds of people that direction in a short amount of time. My only other complaint was that when we finally got to the parking lot, we were stopped by men telling us it was $10 to park! We both panicked because neither one of us ever have cash with us, but luckily, i just happen to grab some on my way out the door and it ended up being enough. If they are going to require people to pay to park i think they need to tell them that, and also tell them they will need cash! The show was a lot of fun though. I don't watch dancing with the stars on t.v. (i'm more of a so you think you can dance fan), but it was still cool to see. You don't get downtown much do you

My friend's husband had been there a couple of times for hockey games and the parking was free then.
Tacenda Posted December 19, 2015 Posted December 19, 2015 What do you think of the temple lights Blue bell? I'm dragging my husband to go tonight. He's said no every year for awhile now, but put my foot down finally.

I'm still trying to find a good time to go though, when it's not shoulder to shoulder people. Last year we went on a Thursday and it wasn't too bad. This year we went on a Tuesday and it was horrible. You could barely walk. It does take some of the experience away when there are so many people, but you can't blame anyone for wanting to be there. And a heads up. Parking at the conference center to see the lights is $10. Parking at City Creek is free. Edited December 20, 2015 by bluebell

It was just as you described, so going back on a better day.
