Deplorable Behaviour!

I would have assumed that a sister of a missionary would be strongly ethical - that being heavy on mercy and compassion.

 

In this blog, this person catches a rat in a glue trap. Instead of either letting it go or disposing of it in a humane and painless way, they decide it's a good idea to burn it alive. She descibes that after she debilitated on the fate of the animal, she tortures it and then admits to laughing hard and "getting a pizza" to celebrate.

 

If you were a missionary leader, or a colleague, how would you react to something like this? It's quite sad there are sadists like this out there, particularly in a position where they help people.

I couldn't bring myself to read the blog link... just your description was enough.  I cannot understand people... I can't stand rats, mice, etc but would never be purposely cruel to any animal.  I had to use a mousetrap once and just cringed...

Ok, your version is entirely different than what I got from the blog. Your version seems like she is trying to be cruel.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be screaming like she was (a neighbor once asked me to come check her cupboards for a mouse while she and her daughter were standing on chairs and screaming), but I am sure I wouldn't know what to do either (I didn't know what I would do if I found the mouse).

I would not have gone about all they did, but it was out of fear, ignorance, relief, not cruelty.

They had the situation under control though. And even had time to discuss how to kill the animal (one option was to mutilate it). She showed no guilt or remorse and treated it so casually afterwards. People don't burn animals alive on a moment's notice.
