rpn Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 I think that the Prop 8 backlash and the sacrifices members made in CA and HI to support historical marriage definitions did strenthen members who participated, but not in all cases --- several members resigned their positions under pressure because of their faith or their families involvement in Prop 8. I would have thought that fully strengthened members would have refused to resign so tehy could have fought any firing. And there were members who fell away from church teachings and even opposed church teachings. One thing that did result from what the Church did and what the response was is that the Church has now clarified doctrine about what is sinful and what is not. The Vatican has recently been doing the same, as have other christian denominations that uphold traditional marriage. This has been helpful for all believing Christians to remember our sisters and brothers and that it is not their attraction, but any sexual activity no matter persuasion outside of legal (civil) and lawful (heavenly) bounds that is unacceptable to God. 1
