K-2 Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Do you think any other members of the Church besides Kelly and Dehlin, such as Tom Phillips or Joanna Brooks deserve discipline? Why or why not? Let's not get into speculation about other people's worthiness.
Duncan Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 I dunno, Joanna Brooks to me doesn't seem to be like Dehlin or Kelly. Tom Phillips I am surprised hasn't gotten the boot but apparently as someone said elsewhere you can't ex some with the 2nd anointing, which to me doesn't sound legit but what do I know. No one is above scrutiny
CA Steve Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 It should be abundantly clear from the thread on Kelly and Dehlin that speculation on who deserves discipline is totally inapropriate.
K-2 Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 CA Steve, I'm just wondering what your opinion is about it, not calling for judgement of more people.
Tacenda Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 http://mormonmatters.org/ 235: Perspectives on News of Possible Excommunications of LDS Activists, Part 5 This is the last of a 5 part podcast that Dan Witherspoon put out as soon as the announcement about John and Kate. I'm excited to listen to part 5 especially, the other parts only ran 15 or so minutes. Anyway, excited to listen to this one with Maxine Hanks who was one of the September 6 group. A lot of people are comparing what's going on now to back then. Maxine says right off the bat that she doesn't think these DC calls come from the top but only from local leaders. I can't post and listen at the same time, so I'll end this.

On edit. Isn't this the reason church courts are kept private, to avoid exactly this type of personalized discussion? Edited June 13, 2014 by CA Steve 2
K-2 Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 Duncan, people like John D. Lee and Thomas B. H. Stenhouse had the second anointing and then were excommunicated. Why not Phillips? 1
K-2 Posted June 13, 2014 Author Posted June 13, 2014 CA Steve, just say that you think judgement should be left to Church leaders. Of course other people might have different opinions.
Duncan Posted June 13, 2014 Posted June 13, 2014 Duncan, people like John D. Lee and Thomas B. H. Stenhouse had the second anointing and then were excommunicated. Why not Phillips? and I am assuming all or most of the apostles who were exed and probably George P. Lee
