I'm curious to know what you mean by the above comment. Would you please elaborate?

A similar argument was made by Jefferson and Madison in favor of colonization of the slaves because they were a afraid that abolition would result in racial strife if the blacks stayed here. The only people ring to establish a national religion is the Cgristian Right and they are losing their struggle and in fact are causing more and more Americans to reject organized religion altogether. If reasonable religious voices do not retake the microphone from the radical conservatives all religions in America are going to suffer.

IMNSHO you have a bit of a mix up in your cause and effect. The Cristian Right is not the cause of Americans or any one else rejecting organized or any other religion. 2

The Christian Right has been behaving so repulsively that they are driving the young away. They have a popularity rating which is actually lower than that of Congress, which is something very difficult to achieve.

I don't think he is talking about a literal state or federal religion.

I heard one time that there are lies and damned lies and then there are statistics. I don't necessarily hold that to be true but it does point out that one must use some care in whose statistics one uses.

Actually, I think the Christian Right has caused many Americans to feel that they are starkers bonkers by their sanctimonious and self righteous actions. Men like John Hagee and others of his ilk would cause me to entirely reject organized religion were he the only game in town. 2
