mfbukowski Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) Nice avatar -- it's rather "unreal"! but I don't see how it could not be composed of matter. I think many of the other subjects that have been brought up in this thread can be viewed as having both material and immaterial aspects that warrant consideration as part of navigating our mortal probation. Some think that matters and some do not. I think it's OK to "argue" or discuss in a non-contentious manner, and not necessarily to sway others to one's own point of view but to add value for those that appreciate that there is more than one way to view things. Some think that is worthwhile and some do not. It's a Picasso self portrait. I chose it for the characteristics I mentioned- to question what reality really is which was what Picasso was doing also. Of course I have no problem with the discussion, but my concern is that it leads to confused thinking that can lead to serious errors by creating dogmas like substance theology, the trinity and transubstantiation. I am sorry to be so pedantic, but I have devoted a good chunk of my life in getting clear from these very kind of ideas which I see as a major problem with western civilization. Its a big deal for me, but then again I am quite odd I suppose. Maybe I doth protest too much! Edited February 15, 2014 by mfbukowski

What discussion on this board hasn't the potential to lead to confused thinking on any subject (and how much more often is the confused thinking a preexisting condition anyway)?

My goal in life is to weed out confusion not cause it.

It's like offering an alcoholic a glass of wine. It may appear innocuous but can lead to major problems

But as long as the thread is open, I would think it a great opportunity to lay out your concerns for the record.
mfbukowski Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Well I kinda thought I did that, but if you want to talk further I am game. The mods are one of the Great Unknowable Forces of the Universe, they do what they do and there is not much we can do about them
