teddyaware Posted December 6, 2013 Posted December 6, 2013 Oh..........crap. Is it too late to switch my vote to Lucifer? Yes, you have to obey the laws of righteousness but those are not confining. Some make it sound like it is rigid lockstep through eternity. Yuck! Might as well replace gods with automatons if that is the case. Luckily....false. There are decisions to be made and adventures to be had down that road and fun things to try using the powers of creation and omnipotence. Ahhhh....good times. Excellent observations! If God were just some sort of celestial automaton, going about the business of being divine without joy, love, excitement, adventure and passion, it's hard to imagine anything more depressing and disillusioning.

Hamilton Porter Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 (edited) Belief in communal salvation and besting the Catholics and Eastern Orthodox in practice at it. Sense of community greater than anyone else. Coming in second only to the Amish in Christlike love. Rigorous code of practice combined with the a lot of latitude in what to believe. Book of Mormon, a Christological document start to finish. Emphasis on relationships with family, others and not just a love affair with Jesus. Transformative power: It not only makes nice guys (lots of religions can do that) but successful people as well. I had a roommmate whose HS drop-out father joined the Church, and remained a wifebeater and a womanizer his whole life. All he cared about was the rodeo. All seven of his children finished college. Why? His ward in Texas was all engineers in the oil industry. Had great examples. Connections worth my tithing dollars. Evolution from primitivism to sacramentalism makes sense as a Restoration. Best answers to the problem of evil and epistemological problem. BYU football and Basketball. Terryl Givens. NOT the music. Edited December 7, 2013 by Hamilton Porter 1
