What Is A Priesthood Meeting?

In the temple recommend meeting the guys are asked if you attend your Priesthood meetings, What is a Priesthood meeting exactley? They have that stake Priesthood mtg once a year and I can't see that constituting the one thing that will get you a recommend. Then I thought well, what about EQ or High Priests, but then again their are brethren that attend young mens or primary or do whatever, but then again in any of those classes we don't do anything with the Priesthood but simply listen or teach but that isn't exercising the priesthood.
 What about sacrament mtg? but only a handful of brethren are exercising the priesthood, but what about those who don't?
if we as  priesthood holders attend any meeting is that a priesthood meeting as someone with the priesthood is there?.

I can't tell if you are being coy or not. But any rate. Priesthood Meeting is the regularly scheduled meetings of men whom hold the Priesthood. We learn of our responsibilities, and do acts of service for the members of our Wards/Stakes we are in.

There is no direct question if you attend your Priesthood Meetings on the list of Temple Recommend questions. But I would assume that if your Bishop had any doubts about your attendence to your Church meetings he could ask. IE; If you only darkened the church doors only once every two years at TR time that probably would prompt some questions.

Again I do not believe it is "on the recommend question sheet list thing".  It appears to me it is an add on by your local leader(s).  Shouldn't be.

I found an on-line source that lists the temple recommend questions. It is an unofficial source, but the list is consistent with what I recall. This is the question pertaining to meeting attendance:

 

Do you strive to keep the covenants you have made, to attend your sacrament and other meetings, and to keep your life in harmony with the laws and commandments of the gospel?

 

From this it is apparent that in the standard questions, the only meeting asked about specifically is sacrament meeting.

 

I do wonder how rigid the general category "other meetings" is. If it includes Sunday School, then I can think of quite a few ostensibly active Church members who are in trouble, as they either congregate out in the foyer for what a member of my bishopric calls "the social relations class," or they absent themselves from the meetinghouse altogether during that hour.

As far as I recall the question has been there for at least 10 years, probably longer.

I've never been in a bishopric or stake presidency. I'm guessing there is some leeway for divine inspiration in how the questions are posed.

 

On the other hand, I've heard of cautions being issued that the standard temple recommend questions should not be added to or altered. So I don't know what to say about this.

it's funny too when you are asked if you wear the garments as instructed, well my Mum was told something totally different than I was! All I was told was not to throw them on the floor when showering or bathing or something! haha! That's the thing like Priesthood meeting I am trying to figure out what that is, "other meetings" is clear and concise!

I don't believe that means they should never touch the floor, or go into the clothes basket. But should be treated with respect and dignity.

So it's a different set of questions for women than for men? That does sound suspect.
