I would say it was in the early Greco-Roman period.

Now the following is a bit off the topic but since it involves "sons of God", I'd like your input. Genesis 6:4 of the KJV reads:

Would "sons of God" here refer ot the top tiered "sons of God" in heaven? If so would it be plausible that Greek Mythology may have originated in the story of these beings coming down, procreating with daughters of men and then creating "mighty men" such as "heros" (Hercules, Achiles, Persius, etc)? Of course, the Greek gods creating the cosmos would come from God creating all things ex materia but what of the idea of the gods pprocreating with mortals and creating heroes or "mighty men"?

I don't think there's a linear or genetic relationship. Rather, I think it was a common notion in the ancient Near East that certain people were superhuman as a result of divine/human siring.

Interesting, then, that it would make it in the Bible. The way it's written seems that it influenced God flooding of the earth And, if true, it would be biblical evidence that Angels ad humans are no so disimilar as per Christianity has made them out to be. This would connect back to my original post that man is a little less than angels or "the gods".
