New Mission Restructuring-Sister Training Leaders

What do you think of this? I think it's brilliant!

That's interesting. We had something like that in our Mission. My President was a GA -- maybe he could do unusual things? I have no idea -- as I was never in any other mission. I am pretty sure -- I might have this wrong -- but I think we called them "Training Sisters"!

I am pretty sure they were mission wide. I remember one of them -- a sister who was not very attractive physically, but when she would speak, I could almost see light coming from her mouth.

I would say the best missionary in our mission was a sister, from Idaho. I wish she could have taught at zone conference! to be fair though at the end of my mission, some sisters gave presentations

I don't think that the Elders would have been successful in bringing my wife and I into the Church. The Sisters on average are fantastic missionaries, although one of my sons has questioned whether that is because they used to be much older than the Elders. I tend to think they are great and hope our Ward gets another pair in the near future.

These sisters trained at most conferences. But not all.. the distances may have precluded it.

Conversed with my ultimate earthly authority about this and she was excited about it and saw it as a harbinger of things to come.

We had it too when the number of sisters increased. Our MP decided it was needed that we have sisters over us to address the needs of sisters and bridge concerns between elders and sisters since we weren't really allowed to do so with elders. At first we called them supervising sisters....but then our MP was told that an official title was not allowed. So he had to sisters designated with the same role, just without the official title. The Mission President's wife did not have the expanded role mentioned.

If I had to take a guess, I'd assume, depending the mission, there will probably be more than one pair of these sisters and they will have a function that's officially recognized as a leadership position. Overall, it's an expansion of the roles of sisters.

With luv,

I've only been associated with Mormons for a little over two years, and the impact of the sisters in my life has to me ranked on the Richter scale. Very early on, I did encounter some "old country" thinking males who thought that we sisters were somehow inferior. I think that Conference yesterday should remove any doubt about the official position on women. We are "absolutely equal with men". As I have said before, women don't need priesthood privileges to be equal with men. I think it was Elder Holland that made the statement. I don't know what the full impact will be.
