Why Are We Upset That Some Women Want The Priesthood?

I just hope that the first presidency doesn't base their decisions on the threat of apostasy.

While the First Presidency loves and cares about the membership of the church, they rightly 'fear' God more than man... or woman. They won't let the 'fear' of what people do or think or desire get in the way of doing what the Lord directs.

Pres. Heber J. Grant told an acquaintance of mine, when he was a boy; "The church is true and will always be true, whether or not you are a part of it". That sobering thought is still relevant today.

I would be very, very concerned if there wa a shift in this direction, as it would smack of something that is less revelatrory, and more policital correctness.

It could smack of whatever it wanted to... if the church were to make the change the only way it would happen would be unanimous support from the brethren and strong accompanying revelation.

God is not bound by what some guy said a long time ago. The BOM, Bible and D&C all have enough contradictions and variance between them that make the first statement almost moot. We just change our interpretation of the text and bingo... weve done it before an can do it again.

I don't think so either, but I wonder if they DON'T give women the priesthood, if this movement does not die down, but grows....will we see apostasy?

I believe that you may have some either way, but that if women get the priesthood the Church would be so far set back in the accomplishment of its mission -- it would be horrendous. I did not used to believe this but after recognizing it was going to be an issue for the Church, I wanted to get my mind clear on it. I previously was fairly uncommitted either way. (This matches polls that say 52% of men in the Church say "sure, give it to them"). However, after praying about this I had such a vivid dream of the condition of the Church and the progress of the Mission of the Church and I was horrified. I did not get the sense that it became "false" but rather that it was no longer successful. We had made a huge mistake.

So my perspective on this is less wishy washy now. I still will do whatever the leaders say, however I no longer believe that they will do this. I am sure that they will be led properly and at this point I think that means No Ordination of Women.
