Rob Osborn Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Found out I was "banned" from the BSA homosexual thread because I have morals and stand up for what is right. I completely disagree with the policies of this dialogue forum at times. 1
Calm Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Feel free to express your disagreement by not using the facilities provided for you free of cost and effort by others who are probably putting in significant money and time into the care and feeding of the board. 4
Rob Osborn Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Being banned from a topic because I dont believe its ok to be gay. I never even had the opportunity to defend my statement.By definition, being "gay" means one who is acting on their same sex attraction. That is a sin and thus, even by church standards, is not an "okay" lifestyle. 1
Calm Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) Being banned from a topic because I dont believe its ok to be gay. I never even had the opportunity to defend my statement.By definition, being "gay" means one who is acting on their same sex attraction. That is a sin and thus, even by church standards, is not an "okay" lifestyle. So you are changing your complaint? It is not that you were ""banned" from the BSA homosexual thread because [you] have morals and stand up for what is right" but simply because you were misunderstood because you use a different definition of "gay" than others do? Significantly different complaint.Maybe rather than wasting energy in indignation, you should simply try to be clearer about what you mean as others were in the thread. Calm Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 (edited) dictionary.com:the definition of gay is....of, pertaining to, or exhibiting sexual desire or behavior directed toward a person or persons ofone's own sex; homosexual: a gay couple.2.of, indicating, or supporting homosexual interests or issues: a gay organization.Since having sexual desire by itself is part of the definition, "gay" does not solely mean "one who is acting on their same sex attraction".And since you are concerned so deeply with the Church's standards, you should be aware that the Church uses "gay" to express "same sex attraction" as well as behaviour. The experience of same-sex attraction is a complex reality for many people. The attraction itself is not a sin, but acting on it is. Even though individuals do not choose to have such attractions, they do choose how to respond to them. With love and understanding, the Church reaches out to all God’s children, including our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters.http://www.mormonsandgays.org/PS: your problem is easily and instantly solved by attaching "behaviour" or if you prefer the spelling "behavior" to the term "gay"....no confusion, no banning....unless for other more extreme statements. cinepro Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I'm not sure what would be worse: being banned from a thread for having morals, or being banned from your own thread for having poor reading skills when it comes to forum guidelines.Let me know. 1

DavidB Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Dont worry, you are not first nor last to be capriciously banned.

Rob Osborn Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 So, is it wrong for me to say its not okay to be gay? These are basic issues of morality that the BSA has standards about. Not only the BSA but the church itself. As far as I know the church does not support a belief that it is ok to be gay. 1
