volgadon Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 As a side note, I've created a list of people who are ineligible to attend Brigham Young University, the Lord's University, because of their hair.Brigham YoungDepends on what years. Here he only needs a little trim.
swfarnsworth Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 I think Christ would get a pass, or anyone up to David O...(but I think they would gladly conform) but do you agree there should be some standards, and if so where do (or would you) draw the line? Like it or not BYU students represent the Church, just as missionaries do...even the non- members. Are you ok with no drugs, not pants around your knees? The two latter restrictions are in place because they can actually keep you out of the Celestial Kingdom. Having long hair and a beard (I certainly don't have the latter, but I apparently have the former by BYU standards) apparently means something negative to someone, and I would like to meet this person and ask them what it is. While I have met people with appearances that I wouldn't call BYU appropriate, their haircuts were rarely the actual line-crossing aspects of them.
Damien the Leper Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 If Jesus can get away with long hair and a beard...there is no reason others can't.
thesometimesaint Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Ancient Greeks and Romans would probably disagree.
Damien the Leper Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 That's because they were a bunch of promiscuous fratboy type sissies.
blackstrap Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 And then there are the " smooth-faced hypocrites "
