Inheritance Of The Firstborn

The church's Bible Dictionary mentions in the topic on Firstborn that, "The faithful saints were made members of

the Church of the Firstborn in eternity, since they receive through Jesus Christ the inheritance of the firstborn

(D&C 93:21–22). Joseph, though not the firstborn of Jacob, received the inheritance as though he were the

firstborn (1 Chr. 5:1–2), as also did Ephraim (Gen. 48; Jer. 31:9)".

What is the inheritance of the firstborn that Joseph and Ephraim received and that other members of the Church

of the Firstborn receive? Does the second or third born receive it too?

The point here is this: No matter whether you are the firstborn or not, you are blessed by God to receive the fulness of the divine inheritance that is Christ's, as if you were Christ the firstborn Son.

This is one of the reasons why we take upon ourselves the name of Jesus Christ. If we are faithful and true, the Father will bless us with the eternal fulness of his blessings, as if we were the Lord Jesus Christ himself. It is by becoming one with Christ in this way that men become the glorified sons of God in the assembly of The Church of the Firstborn.

1 Chr 5:1 says, "Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; but, forasmuch as he defiled his

father's bed, his birthright was given unto the sons of Joseph the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned

after the birthright".

What benefits did Reuben have while he held the birthright?
