God Wreaks Havoc On Natural Selection

Evolutionary will occur with very tiny differences in survival. A <1/100,000 difference will soon fill the entire population.

Here are the different places where evolution can be affected:

1- survival while still being able to have children

2- fecundity (number of children)

3- migration

4- reproductive isolation or nonisolation

5- choice of mate

6- mutation rate

Unequivocably, these factors have been affected by belief in religion.

The migrations of religious groups (missionaries, pilgrimages, migration from persecution) has had and continues to have a marked effect.

Preferential survival, spouse selection and reproduction of religious leaders has had and continues to have an effect. The spread of the Cohen allele, Brigham Young's many children are both examples.

Avoiding birth control and having large families is having a very strong effect on the population demographics in the US (decreasing Jews, increasing Catholics)

Living in areas of greater genetic mutation (such as the Rocky Mountains) also has an effect.

Endogamy also has an effect causing the withering of the Samaritans for example.

But God can have an effect as well through His actions on mankind:

Saving someone that would otherwise die (i.e. priesthood blessings)

Guiding a couple to have more children (I have heard of this several times)

Guiding someone on where to live

Guiding someone to seek a spouse

Guiding someone in their choice of a spouse.

God can similarly have an effect through his actions on animals:

The plagues of Moses, Mormon seagulls, miraculous provision of food are examples of God guiding animal movements.

If God can guide the movement of animals or affect survival of animals then He could guide evolution very rapidly similar to the way that humans guide the evolution of animals.

Quite so. In addition, the movements of every molecule or atom in every individual over time cannot be accountedfor by any mortal. Hence, God can also guide evolution on the molecular level in addition to the environmental level or any level one cares to suggest.

God used the Assyrians and countless other nations to invade Israel and other nations to work His master plan - all this had a dramatic affect on what DNA survived, and how lifestyles had to change leading to further adaptations. As I have said elsewhere, we know so little it is rather arrogant to assume that we are even close to the truth. If we close our minds and decide evolution though natural selection by chance is the final answer then we will unintentionally ignore other evidence. Science tells us that nothing can go faster than light, yet as members of the church we feel entitled to ignore this so-called law to justify our belief in God. Why do we claim the right to justify away one 'law' but embrace another? I accept evolution as the best explanation but fully accept the fact that there may be much more God has hidden from our view.
