Deseret Media has a site to help with the fight against porn, http://www.outinthelight.com

An example of an article on talking with our children:

The ‘new’ talk parents should have with their children

The article starts out:

SALT LAKE CITY — How many feet in a mile? That was the homework question 8-year-old Milo Valentine asked his mom if he could Google.

The question sounded harmless enough, but the body part that popped up as his answer had nothing to do with miles.

“It was just horrifying,” said Milo’s mom Megan Valentine. “It’s just really disheartening as a parent.”

I don't let my kids (7 and 10) on the internet unless and until i've already got the site they are looking at open. Our filters seem to be pretty good as I never get sketchy google choices when i search things but i don't want to leave anything up to chance.

A good rule is that any computer should be in an open area -- kitchen, living room, and placed in a position where it can be seen by everybody.

Teach them correct principles, and check their internet history on their phones. ;)

Or as was said in the nuclear arms race,"trust but verify"

How does one protect yourself and others for what can be viewed on a smartphone?

Teens should only have a dumb phone -- a cell phone. The normal justification to have a phone is to call mom or dad.
