Jeff K. Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 We'll see, Jeff. I haven't been locked out yet. Bummer.H.Don't worry, you will be.
Stargazer Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Especially when you consider that they all float down there. That's what I meant about the surface tension.
LDSToronto Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Don't worry, you will be.How do you know?
KevinG Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Has anyone lost their temple recommend for submitting unauthorized names? I have never heard of that happening before. Is there an actual documented example?Since the church never publicizes the details of a disciplinary counsel you aren't likely to hear about it happening unless you are the person being disciplined.
Stargazer Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 How do you know? He's a member of the Danite Band, that's how.He plays lead guitar I understand. 1
divinenature Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Okay, so if we see the same user who submitted an unauthorized name in the past still doing it currently...what can we safely conclude from that?
KevinG Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Don't worry, you will be.I suspect that depends on if he used his own sign-in, if the restrictions are retroactive to the date he submitted fake names, if the fake names were of holocaust victims or celebrities on the do-not-submit list and/or if he continues his curious activities past the date members were warned not to do so.LDSToronto is nothing if not clever about his free speech activities.

Stargazer Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Danite Lead Guitar = Main AxeNot sure why, but I laughed heartily at that one. 1
cdowis Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 A single access to a name will not bring consequences. It is clear that they are watching for those with a history of checking out lists of holocaust names for obviously nefarious purposes. The other day I accessed Anne Frank's record, and I have not been blocked.

If she's determined she can just create new accounts using proxies so they can't ban her IP. Edited March 8, 2012 by Brade
KevinG Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 The other day I accessed Anne Frank's record...I think reading her diary is allowed.

If she's determined she can just create new accounts using proxies so they can't ban her IP.You can't create an account without a membership record. It would take a deliberate and involved effort to create a fake NewFamilySearch account and gain access to the temple submission programs. Even Radkey had to use the passwords of mormon confidants to access these records.
LDSToronto Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 If he answers "curious" I'm gonna lose it. Maybe you could get a video ready

Like checking to see if the church is honoring their agreement? 3
KevinG Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Nefarious purposes? Like checking to see if the church is honoring their agreement?I think CDowis may have been thinking of attempts to extort $30k from the church to make a manufactured problem go away, or perhaps any effort to embarass the church by submitting false names....but thank goodness there is no shortage of volunteers to insure the sneaky Mormons aren't getting away with anything.

Is the problem the person who found it, and reported it? They should block the submission of inappropriate names. They have agreed to do as much. But what value is there in blocking verification?
