jskains Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 How is Orem these days? Which city in Utah County would you choose if you were working in Provo?JMS
altersteve Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I live in Utah County, and I like it. I prefer Davis County, though; I lived in Centerville for 10 years and I've always seen that area as my home.
Buzzard Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Well, when I moved back to UT several years ago after living most of my adult life in SoCal, I bought a home in Lehi, so that whether I worked in Salt Lake or Provo, the drive would not be a killer in either direction. A lot of folks agree with me, Lehi has gone from 8K to 50K population in 20 years. And I got my wish, having worked in Sandy, American Fork, Lehi, Provo, South Salt Lake, West Valley, and now back to Provo-but the company is relocating to Orem this summer. In CA, I was the lone Anglo on the block, and probably the only Republican. In northern Utah county, I am viewed as suspect due to my CA "roots" (despite being born in Provo), and for having snowshoes in my garage instead of proper UT toys like snowmobiles and 4-Wheelers, which I detest. But that's a thread for another day.
Scott Lloyd Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 On behalf of [Darn] Utah Mormons, I hereby exempt you from the social stigma flowing from not having snowmobiles and the like in your garage. I do this because I do not have those things myself, and my Utah arrogance means that my behavior, in whatever respect, is worthy of emulation by others.

At our last stake conference, a member of the stake presidency suggested that we could be closer to our families by doing simple, inexpensive activities, and specifically suggested ditching the ATV's and taking a nice walk/hike up the canyons with your family. It was all I could to not to leap to my feet and cry out "Preach it brother!!". A few days later I ran into him in the grocery store and told him how much I appreciated his remarks. He told me those comments had created no small stir in the stake, not much of it positive.
Messenger Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 I refuse to live or work in any county in Utah. . But, Pleasant Grove isn't bad if I had no choice.
jskains Posted March 3, 2012 Author Posted March 3, 2012 If you had no choice, Pleasant Grove might not be an option.
Messenger Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 If you had no choice, Pleasant Grove might not be an option. For you jskains, Tooele is your destination. Just don't go to sleep!
Mehrdad Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I moved to UT County from HI, I like it here. Except for the dry air, I have no complaints at all. Home is where the heart is.
sweetpotatoh Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 St. George is where it's at. Close to the border just in case the darn Utah Mormons get to uppity. Nothing like a quick run down to Mesquite to get away from all the TBM's.Seriously I would move to Heber in a heartbeat. I lived there for close to 10 years and it is a great city. I plan on owning a house/condo there someday(again).
