The Girl Scouts have been linked to the nation’s largest abortion provider in the past. In 2010, a panel sponsored by the Girl Scouts USA at the United Nations Commission featured a Planned Parenthood pamphlet called “Healthy, Happy and Hot," according to published reports.

A portion of the pamphlet read: “Many people think sex is just about vaginal or **** intercourse. But there are lots of different ways to have sex and lots of different types of sex. Sex can include kissing, touching, licking, tickling, sucking and cuddling. Some people like to have aggressive sex, while others like to have soft sex and slow sex with their partners. There is no right or wrong way to have sex. Just have fun, explore and be yourself!”

A similar pamphlet was distributed at a Waco, Texas Girl Scouts organization in 2008 that included information on masturbation, diagrams of adults having sex and a boy putting on a condom.

That year then-CEO of the Girl Scouts Kathy Cloninger told NBC’s “Today” show, “We have relationships with our church communities, with YWCA's, and with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, to bring information-based sex education programs to girls.”

A pro-life group investigating Planned Parenthood's ties to the Girl Scouts organization has found that 26 percent of Girl Scout councils have relationships with the abortion provider.

"But what is even more surprising is that 79% of Girl Scout councils have not disclosed their position on Planned Parenthood by failing to answer a simple question - Do you have any relationship with Planned Parenthood?" said Jim Sedlak, executive director of STOPP International, in a statement.

American Life League's STOPP International launched its probe after a remark made by Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. CEO Kathy Cloninger, who told NBC News, "We have relationships...with Planned Parenthood organizations across the country, to bring information-based sex education programs to girls."

During their investigation, one CEO of a Girl Scouts council responded to STOPP International's inquiry, "I have been instructed to say 'no comment' to whatever you ask."

"If the Girl Scouts believe that partnering with Planned Parenthood is a benefit to young girls, then why are the Girl Scouts reluctant to talk about the connection," Sedlak asked.

"Their failure to answer the question leads many to wonder if these councils, in fact, do work with the organization. If that is the case, their stonewalling may represent an attempt to hide a relationship they do not want parents and the public to know about," he added.

STOPP has listed every council by state and shows the results of the investigation on its website. The remaining 249 councils did not disclose their relationship.

"Some councils attempted to justify their partnership with Planned Parenthood by having parents sign permission slips," Sedlak said.

"We maintain that, as an organization that purports to provide the best for young girls, it is the Girl Scouts organization itself that should be saying NO to Planned Parenthood. We ask every parent of a Girl Scout in areas served by councils that did not respond to our inquiry to insist the councils tell the truth," he added.

Parents who find out about local councils can use a link on the STOPP website to send corrections, and the site will be updated as new information is received. But the pro-life group emphasizes it is not against the Girl Scouts organization.

"It is important to understand," Sedlak said, "we are not at war with the Girl Scouts, but that we are trying to protect young girls from the evils of Planned Parenthood. We are simply asking that Girl Scout councils stop their partnership with Planned Parenthood."

In Canada, girls guides does not allow each group to have their own charter so it is not even possible for girl guides to be followed by the church up here. It is not possible to have a religious based program or to have church focused activities.

It's the same for Girls Scouts USA. They don't use a charter system like the BSA does, so the idea of having the Church or any other entity associated with it is a moot point.

No, GSA is set up into smaller councils and then within each council are service areas and within each service area are troops. Generally speaking troops dictate a lot of what goes on with the individual girls and very little seems to come from the council unless the girls go to camp.

Well, Planned Parenthood does a lot more than provide abortions. Sex education is a good way of helping to prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first place, which would obviously render moot the question of abortion. It's not as though the GSA is encouraging girls to get pregnant and then go get an abortion. And why does Scouting have to be involved in religious education? Isn't that what Sunday School and the Young Women's Program are for? I attended a nice Methodist-sponsored troop, did my non-religious "scouty" things, and then went to church on Sunday and learned all the normal LDS stuff there. No conflict, just different organizations and activities for different purposes.
