I was able to pick up four very interesting texts at a greatly discounted price. This caused me to wonder what other stores exist out there that has enamored the interest of our MADB members. Somewhere in Time, New Bern, NC and the Book X Change in Charleston SC are the last 3 that we have visited.We mostly hunt for used Sy Fy and adventure or mystery fiction. The Blue Bicycle had a low stock of these but many non ficiton books and some antique signed by the author books. We're on a boat so we look for paperbacks. We should get a Kindle but where's the adventure in that?

I want to cry every time I walk in, because I know I'll never be able to read that many books in my entire life. But it has a pretty nice selection of new and used books in the theology, mythology, philosophy and anthropology sections. Just bought Margaret Barker's The Great High Priest: The Temple Roots of Christian Liturgy the other day - apparently Anne Rice used to own my copy, which is certainly ... something. *laugh*

Just bought Margaret Barker's The Great High Priest: The Temple Roots of Christian Liturgy the other day - apparently Anne Rice used to own my copy, which is certainly ... something. *laugh*A couple of years ago, shortly after I got married, my wife and I made a pilgrimage down (or should I say up?) to Powell's Books—about a five-hour drive away. I returned with, among other things, Kathryn Daynes's More Wives Than One, Roger Launius's Zion's Camp, Baruch Halpern's The First Historians, and a festschrift for David Noel Freedman. Fond memories. Nothing ex libris Anne Rice, however .
