Ariarates Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Hi folks, it's been a while but I came across a weird interpretation of the BoM that I've never heard before, so I thought I'd ask if anyone here has heard about it.I found it in the Dutch wikipedia and it is claimed by a group called "Mormon Historical Revival" - of which I have never heard either. Based on the term `promised land´ in 1 Nephi 18:23 they claim that Lehi circumnavigated Africa and ended up in...Jerusalem.What follows is a hodgepodge of Old World sources (Herodotos, Josephus, the Old Testament and what not) from which names and events are cherry-picked to fit this interpretation (e.g. Cezoram = Caesarion, the son of Julius Caesar and Cleopatra, or Mormon = the Ostrogoth king Ermanarich who died in a terrible battle of extinction with the Huns).I haven't checked any of these supposed old world connections, I just give them as examples of the theory. Does this sound at all familiar to anyone here?

So far I've got him equating Jeremiah with Lehi, Johanen (sp?) with Nephi and Hillel with Alma. One of his methods is apparently if they have a similar name during a similar time period they are the same person....Ami equals Amon in some translations so it must be one of the Ammons in the BoM.http://www.freak-sea...8/acad_ezra_2/2He seems very certain about it, based on the idea there can only be one promised land.
