california boy Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 American Idol runner-up David Archuleta broke down in tears as he revealed his plans to take a break from his singing career to serve a two-year proselytizing mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Here is the linkhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2076796/David-Archuletas-Mormon-mission-American-Idol-star-takes-2-year-career-break.html?ito=feeds-newsxmlI congratulate him for making this courageous decision. It must be tough to risk loosing his budding musical career. But his conviction and faith in the church compels him to do what other famous entertainers and sports figures have chosen not to do. So two big thumbs up to him. The question I have, is how should his mission use him. If you were his mission president, would you just have him be like any other missionary and knock on doors? Or would you use his musical gift and international fame in a different way to bring a wider audience to the gospel? It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Not so good for where he serves possibly. One thing we do not need are screaming teenagers and camera's everywhere he goes. Hopefully he will serve in a Temple mission, out of site.
