Duncan Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I don't have my scriptures handy but there is a verse that says that we should act and not be acted upon with the interpretation that you need your own iniative to do stuff rather then being told to do something but what if your acting involves having someone else do something as in delegating assignments? Like if you are planning a baptism and you take the iniative to do what needs to be done but you realize you can't do everything and so you delegate and having others being acted upon

Calm Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Acted upon IMO means passivity, simply doing what one is told or responding without much thought or seeking of personal information, what I call running on autopilot. The person who receives instruction or delegation still has the choice of how to respond.

Just sharing busy work irritates and demotivates.Delgated tasks should be followed up to check understanding and results.Give credit with the delegated tasks.Share goals and desired results, allow the person who does the task to come up with solutions.
