Basically, some people met in a study group, and started having prayer circles. They got some spiritual experiences they liked, and then some counsel from the Stake President to cease and desist that they didn't. The court followed. cdowis Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 I remember that the church issued a statement to avoid attending groups with specialized goals, e.g. how to make one's calling and election sure.If it's the group I am hinking of, some prominent individual had left his real wife so that he could join the church as an apostle and live polygamy.

Ariarates Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 And suddenly it all makes sense!I was traveling through Utah back then and the lady who ran the Manti B&B we stayed in, was very edgey (sp?) at the breakfast table (big table with all the guests, lots of fun). At one point, she cut a discussion about what I thought was the various churches on the main street in Manti short by loudly proclaiming how glad she was we have a prophet and she needn't think about anything at all. We thought that was very odd but now I understand.Ah, they say that wisdom comes with age...
